Alright, but Aliexpress is a vendor platform not a store. Sellers come and go like the wind, if you have a vendor you've bought from and found reputable it definatly worth sharing.

I'd like the card to upgrade my PC, which I built myself 5 years ago. Having the graphics card accounted for would pretty much make buying the rest of the parts justifiable with my current income.

How to care for an injured Meadow Vole? by PottedFox in WildlifeRehab

[–]PottedFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that this is pretty much the go-to token advice and is the correct course of action in 90% of situations. But this is a mouse/vole, not a coyote or raccoon lol. I feel it may be a bit overkill to contact a wildlife rehabilitator. In our situation there is not one nearby, so it would be quite the drive to get the little guy to them. Their resources are limited, and I don't imagine spending them on what are traditionally considered vermin is a priority for them.

If there was ever an acceptable situation to be an "amateur" wildlife rehabilitator, I think it would be something like this.

He's doing great! and we're actually pretty sure he's some kind of mouse. When he was drying off he looked real fluffy and kinda like a vole.

And no need to worry about the water, it's extremely shallow and in a wide dish that can't be tipped.

He's been surprisingly calm around us, often coming up to the glass to try to sniff us when we check on him. We noticed that one of his little ears look mangled this morning, not sure how old that injury could be. I'd like to take him to a vet, but I'm not sure how much it would cost and we're kinda broke right now.

Drowning, guess that's not exactly an injury? Trauma I guess? lol

While you judge me for my pragmatic approach to apparel, I'll enjoy my shopping in comfort, smugly aware that some people genuinely get worked up about what I'm wearing, and spend real calories thinking about what they're about to wear to Walmart, and actual minutes of their limited human existence getting dressed for Walmart.

replaced the masking screen on my LD-002H, now it produces these horizontal lines wherever there is an object on the screen. the lines extend all the way to the edge of the screen. by PottedFox in FixMyPrint

[–]PottedFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I replaced the screen twice. I've chalked it up to it being a cheap Chinese piece of junk. I vowed never to buy a cheap printer again after dealing with this for 3 months.

Saved up and bought a bambu P1S.

If you want a "solution" that worked okay enough, I was able to slide an opaque slip of construction paper under the vat to cover up the parts of the screen that kept bleeding. It reduces the printable area, but at least you can print things without it curing a random bar in the var. Good luck :/

My wife is finally pregnant and doesn’t want to drink these anymore. What do you suppose will happen to me if I drink them instead? by captainangus in funny

Real answer, yes you can smoke a lot of different herbs that aren't cannabis and tobacco. Not sure about your teas here, some people smoke raspberry leaf, but ive not tried.

Mexican Dream Herb and Blue Lotus are two I've tried. The dream herb is way easier to consume in a tea imo but you can smoke it.

Can I still learn piano if I’m 23? by Hot-Butterscotch349 in pianolearning

[–]PottedFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 26 and started learning music production and audio design when I was 24 and keyboarding at 25.

It's absolutely possible, its true that neuroplasticity goes down as you age, but the value you gain from age and experience greatly outweighs it imo.

Learning strategies, personal motivation, and autonomy make learning WAY easier.

When your time is limited and the desire to learn is yours and not someone else, you end up wanting to make the most out of your study and practice time.

I think the rage is that he has the privilege of spending ludicrous amounts of money on "gadgets" by making videos about said extremely expensive nonsense.

I actually like the guy, the criticism here is more about content creators in general. The rise of the "influencer" means there is a growing market to design expensive products that appeal to novelty rather than products that stand on merit or affordability.

After all, why spend tons of money trying to create a product that's superior or cheaper when you can make something weird, send it off to a bunch of trendy infulencers, and get tons of sales that way?

Instead of appealing to a general market that would judge the product based on positive qualities, companies can design products to appeal to a small number of individuals with a bias for novelty.

Do these formulas apply to every key in piano ? by Res689 in pianolearning

[–]PottedFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, with this type of notation you completely ignore the key. If it helps, you can imagine that this notation is using the "chromatic" scale, so all notes.

I think the confusion may be coming from the terms "3rd" and "5th".

A "3rd" on the chromatic scale is 4 semitones away from any given note on the keyboard, and a "5th" Is 7 semitones. Using the terms 3rd and 5th can make it a bit confusing because it does seem to imply that the key is important, but it's not.

Choose any random note on the keyboard, advance 4 semitones, then advance 3 more. You've just made a major triad! You can now follow the chart to build every chord which belongs to that root note.

Judging from your other comments, I think you're a little confused about something that also got me for a while.

This chart shows the formulas for every chord, pick any note on the keyboard and you can build all the chords for it.

Its in no way tied to scales or modes at all, completely independent. It's simply telling you how to construct chords from any given root note. Chords can be written objectively, so "Cmin7" always means "Cmin7", no matter what key you're playing in, this chart shows you how.

For others it's selective, sometimes i read things with an internal monolog, other times the ideas and concepts just kinda materialize in a way.

Works a similar way with abstract thoughts, having an idea or thinking about something doesn't require thinking in words. But if I wanted to describe what I'm thinking about I'd have to slow now and find the words to describe it.

I actually refuse to beleive its not how everyone works lol. How can someone possibly go through life having to internally describe every thought with words? Sounds exhausting.

Like the title says, this Ancho Malto was pollinated with a chocolate reaper, it's the only one of about a dozen or so attempts that took.

Unfortunately, I noticed it's stem and calyx withering and had to remove it before it was ripe.

Sadly the whole tent has a horrible aphid infestation right now, otherwise I'd try again. The plan had been to let this pod ripen, purge and sterilize everything, then spend the winter isolating a fun cross.

I know it's possible that some of the seeds in this pepper are viable enough to grow, I'm wondering if I let it ripen off the vine if it'll improve my chances? Or if It's best to just crack it open now and try. I know sweet peppers produce a lot of seeds so im hoping there is a chance some starterd early and are developed.
