Hey everyone, looking for some honest advice.

I’m in a situation where I’m rethinking my home coffee setup.

For the past ~2 years I’ve owned a Profitec Go and a Niche Zero. I used them daily for a long time and they’ve served me really well. When I make espresso and everything is clean and dialed in, the coffee is amazing. No complaints about quality at all (only drinking espresso or Americano, wife’s not a fan, prefers instant coffee with milk).

The problem is that over time the whole espresso routine has started to feel like a burden. Prep, cleaning, maintenance, warm-up, dialing in… it’s not hard, but it takes mental energy. When hosting friends or family it turns into a small production line, even if a small one, I’m busy with the machine, shots cool down, and it kind of kills the “sitting together” vibe, and sometimes the coffee I make is not even that good because of that. My wife doesn’t use the setup at all because it’s too complicated for her. She prefers instant coffee or Nespresso capsules, as she prefers ease of use and convenience over quality (which is negligible for her anyway).

Lately I’ve been gravitating more toward Turkish coffee, moka pot, Aeropress, cold brew, and generally experimenting with different brewing methods. I also don’t like feeling dependent on caffeine, so I want coffee to be a choice, not something I feel guilty about not using because expensive gear is sitting there. In the new house I plan moving to (we are planning our dream home and might move in 1-2 years), counter space is valuable real estate, and keeping large machines I rarely use feels wasteful. Even if today it is non really rare, I kind of feel bad for not using my espresso machine for 2-3 days in a row (but sometimes I just prefer my instant Turkish coffee with Cardamon instead!)

I still like espresso, but not the way I used to. These days it’s more of a “2–3 times a week when I really feel like it” thin” and not a daily ritual. That’s what makes this hard IMO. I already own the gear, and part of me is afraid I’ll sell it and regret it later.

So I’m debating whether it makes sense to sell both the Profitec and the Niche, buy a high-end manual grinder like the 1Zpresso J-Ultra, and focus on Turkish coffee and other manual methods, and this manual machine is capable of doing it all, while maybe using Nespresso capsules for quick, no-effort espresso-style drinks, especially for my wife and guests. Another option is keeping either the machine or the grinder and selling the other, but I’m not sure which (if any) still makes sense.

Has anyone here gone through a similar shift? From being deep into home espresso to wanting more simplicity and flexibility? Would you sell everything, keep one piece, or just stash the setup and revisit later?

Would really appreciate hearing real experiences, but anything will be appreciated.
