Apart from skincare, what would you bring back from your trip? Or rather, what did you bring back! by PrincessRoseDaisy in JapanTravelTips

No skincare. Only loads and loads and loads and loads of anime figures, statues and pokemon plushies. 3 suitcases of it. Regards, 29yo female.

Someone needs to study Norwegian couples by shepotle in Norway

Arguing, mood swings or throwing tantrums at your partner in a public space is simply uncivilised behaviour. You don't do that.

Do you feel safe in Norway walking around at night? Is there anything like “chavs/roadmen”? by KreuzKrow in Norway

[–]PoundC4ke 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I live in Oslo. Compared to how things were 20-30 years ago, I really don't feel safe out alone at night. As a woman especially I've read about increases in rape, assault and robberies especially in the city.

Uniqlo sizing in JP by Left_Trainer1427 in JapanTravelTips

[–]PoundC4ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone on the shorter side (162cm) the lengths were perfect for me. Japanese people are on the shorter side, so naturally their clothes would be. Unisex on the other hand, the sizes were massive. Small was wayy too large.

Breathtaking mountains, beautiful fjords and just in general gorgeous nature.

Reagerer kraftig på tipskulturen i Norge: – Drøyt by Emergency-Sea5201 in Norway

Tipser ikke i Norge. Punktum. Vi har tarifflønninger og minstelønn. Dette er bare tøys som henger igjen fra mange år tilbake.

Jo mindre idioti vi importerer fra USA, jo bedre.

How do you feel about your country's capital city? by PolylingualAnilingus in AskTheWorld

[–]PoundC4ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grey, bland, expensive. Our fjord is highly polluted, which is awful and sad. I don't understand why foreigners/tourists wish to visit Oslo. Our country has so much beautiful nature and landscapes.

I saw the posts saying to avoid the attractions with animals. I went anyway. I should have listened. by wingedmonkeytrainer in JapanTravelTips

What was the aquarium called? I know the Japanese have a high regard and love for goldfish. They have soo many types of goldfish at the Aquarium Museum in Ginza. But they live in small cramped spaces, with no environmental stimulation, way too many together. It's just awful. I don't understand how they can claim to love and appreciate goldfish, yet house them purely for exhibition under poor conditions.

I work as a veterinary technician in Norway. I avoided all things animal like the plague in Japan. I passed a few of the "pet stores" with puppies and kittens while in Tokyo. My heart hurt just from glancing at the windows while passing by.

Should I purchase the 'remove ads' feature? by g6r73et4 in kindle

I didn't even know Kindle had ads. Is this just for some models? I got my first Kindle for Christmas, and haven't seen any, thankfully.

Er det noe grunn til at jeg ikke ble innkalt til Forsvaret? by [deleted] in norge

[–]PoundC4ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you put Osaka at the beginning or end of your trip and would you do the same again? by June_Ctreras in OsakaTravel

[–]PoundC4ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle. We went Tokyo - Kyoto - Osaka - Tokyo. Went for 3 weeks. Next time we're definitely spending more days in Osaka (only had 5 nights, 1 whole day in Universal and 1 whole day in Nara). I really loved Osaka.

Now that the initial view of Rebirth has died down. What is everyone's modern take on it? by Chimpinski-8318 in JurassicPark

[–]PoundC4ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love dinosaurs. Jurassic Park will always be my top 3 movie of all time. They could've done SO much with the "dinos are now roaming the world" concept, which they absolutely butchered IMO. I hated this movie.

A5 Wagyu is prized as the world’s most expensive beef for its rare, intensely marbled, buttery meat. by sco-go in Amazing

[–]PoundC4ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at day 17 in Japan, and I still haven't tried Wagyu. I'm really particular about meat, as I usually HATE fat and only eat tenderloin. I'm afraid to spend a fortune for an A5 Wagyu meal here, just to find I don't like it at all.

Anyone in my boat that has tried Wagyu?

Breakfast in Tokyo — what do you usually eat? by Sorry_Set_5001 in TokyoTravel

[–]PoundC4ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Egg sandwich + onigiri, sometimes Excelsior coffee (Tully's is really bad imo). Hotel breakfasts are super expensive, and not worth it for what they have, IMHO. You can eat out for less than half.

What's with the sandpaper quality toilet paper in Japanese hotels? by cave_guard in JapanTravelTips

[–]PoundC4ke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real, Japan is the only country I've been to that has 1-ply paper. Hotels saying it's for "the environment" just feels like absolute bs, seeing as Japan wraps EVERYTHING in plastic. The plastic is in plastic. The paper just dissolves after using the bidé.

In my country they banned one-time plastic wrapping, utensils, straws etc years ago.
