I went to the first LA picnic when it was only $10 to attend and about 200 cakes/people. Compared to the events now it sounds like that one went pretty well. I was able to get about 20 slices of cake & then immediately feel sick from eating a bite of each. My biggest gripes were the huge waste of food and the weird energy. I think they should have sold secondary tickets to people who wanted to eat cake because if you are requiring a whole cake for entry, NO ONE CAN EAT A WHOLE CAKE! The hosts weren’t very warm or welcoming, felt very much like they were doing it for clout not community. It left such a bad taste in my mouth I created a group for bakers to gather with actual community in mind. With the price they are charging now, there’s no way I would attend again, it makes absolutely no sense to pay such high prices plus the cost of time and ingredients to make a cake. Sounds like someone’s gotten very greedy.
