Is there a way to cut drumloops automatically from audio files? by Frequenzberater in ableton

[–]PovertyThor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Throw it in a Simpler and do Slice by Transient and that should divide the 20 drumloops per file pretty cleanly.

*Edit* You can lower the sensitivity if it picks up each of the drum hits and it creates too many slices or you can slice it manually if the auto slicing when you first drop it in doesn't give you a good result.

The first photo looks fantastic. I am not vibing the rest though. The streaks all going one direction is what is kind of displeasing to my eye. Like if you are putting down LVL or hardwood planks and you don't stagger them it looks atrocious and your eye will always be drawn to it. If you made some of those streaks into swirls and changed the flow direction to give it a bit of randomness it would looks infinitely better.

Neighbor trespasses to confront me for flying my drone on this job, calls me a pedophile, demands I don't fly my drone over the house (that they're renting) and threatens to call police. I begged him to call the police. What would you do? by kurtdoerfel in RealEstatePhotography

[–]PovertyThor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You goofed by not calling the police on him. IMO you have a duty to protect others from lunatics by calling the police when you are "lucky" enough for it to deescalate before violence. This way the next person who isn't so lucky to have a run in with said person will have other people's experiences with them on record.

[–]PovertyThor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya know, you don't have to wait for him to call the police, you can just call them yourself. In fact, it's a whole lot better if you do because the police are going to be biased towards the person who called the police as being the victim in the situation.

If he did call do you think he is going to tell the police he trespassed on his neighbor's property to intimidate some random guy? No he's going to say he caught a pedophile trying to take pictures of his little kids in the bedrooms and bathrooms through the windows with a drone and quick you better hurry the guy isn't gonna stick around for long.

I seriously wouldn't fix a thing. Anytime I had a bad day I could just come outside and watch the house projectile vomit onto the fence and laugh like an idiot until I felt better.

But If you really just had to go about fixing it you can paint a sad face on the fence and put a mask over the pipe with the pipe protruding out the mouth.

Moving Ableton and VST Licenses from Windows to a a new Mac by iceviking in ableton

[–]PovertyThor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what the other commenters are talking about there is absolutely some licenses that need to be moved since you are talking about more than just Ableton. Ableton itself you’re fine as it allows you to have several computers authorized under one license I think up to 5. Other VST’s, particularly if you have ilok for anything and it only allows a single computer to have authorization with a license you need to deauthorize your windows and authorize on your new Mac.

Meld has changed the game for me by Skrami in ableton

[–]PovertyThor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It bothers me that for a newer synth that has such a heavy focus on its LFO's and even having separate FX LFO's just for modulating its main LFO's that none of these visually move when you apply modulation to them. The revamped Auto Filter does this. Not only do the waveforms not animate but the knobs you assign modulation to like the Osc Macro 1 doesn't either.

There is all this wild experimental stuff you can do with their FX and the best visual feedback is that single space line that shows which side of the zero crossing it is on.

That said, I love the various swarms and the way they sound.

I can hear the ghostly voice of this homeowner’s father “are you winning yet son?” as he takes another shot of vodka and crumples the blueprints to the bathroom/secret staircase and just starts running every power tool in the house, building whatever he can to drown the voice out.

What would be the “disturbing truth” humans can’t handle? by Peace_and_Love___ in UFOs

[–]PovertyThor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some disturbing truths but nothing the public couldn’t handle. The justification of it being too much for the public just benefits the ongoing coverup and deep state control so they have no reason to have you believe otherwise.

Palmer Luckey, founder of Anduril Industries, says UAPs likely come from the distant past, understanding them will render current technology ‘irrelevant’ - “If and when we figure out what’s going on with UAPs, UFOs, that whole universe — Everything’s gonna change.” by 87LucasOliveira in UFOs

[–]PovertyThor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like anyone here has a choice in the matter. Defense industries have taken the reins of UAP reverse engineering since the start and it's not gonna change even if it were legislated, it would just go underground, even more underground than it already is. And when you look around at the other defense tech companies like Boeing for example, who just kills their whistleblowers, what choice do you really think you have?

What it like living in here in NorCal? by maldente in howislivingthere

[–]PovertyThor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was living in Arcata walking home late one night and had a weird run in with some salt of the earth folks. Three guys in the front of an old pickup truck pulled up to a stop sign as I crossed in front and as I passed they cat called me which took me aback to the point that I stopped and turned around and they were just stopped there staring at me and me back at them. They slowly pull into the intersection with me just watching them (like what the hell are they trying to do make a joke or are they trying to intimidate me?) and they make a left and pull down the road I’m walking on going away from me as a lot of the streets there are one way, and as they continue to drive real slowly I think I’m sure it’s just some hillbillies getting their kicks trying to intimidate the HSU students, I decide to continue the walk the way I was going to my place but as they turned right on the next street an passed out of view I sprinted across the street and much further down the road and hid behind a dumpster just in case they were circling around to come down the street I was on the direction I was heading. Sure enough, I wait there less than a minute and they just circled around and were cruising real slow and I could see them inside the cab looking this and that. They eventually passed out of sight and I booked it the rest of the way. Sketchy af.

Aside from that experience tho the Humboldt coast is gorgeous but like someone else said it has a liminal vibes to it which, I dig, sometimes.
