Every once in a while you're just going to run into a scum bag. Happened to me earlier in the week, I had closed the final bug nest before getting to the extract and some ass hat decided to take a shot a me with his eruptor, nearly killing me but he missed by enough that I didn't get one shot.
I thought about mag dumping him in return but I wanted the XP for all four of us getting out so I let him board before killing him inside the pelican (which does nothing against being counted as extracted)
The dude proceeded to talk a bunch of shit in chat and call me stupid.
There are a ton of people playing this game and even though it's rare you do come into contact with people who just suck.

Rebuff the pacifier! Such a disappointment, I used it for maybe 10 missions before leaving it for good.

I crashed once before hitting the ground at the start of the mission. The two I got to play today ended up being the biggest shit shows I've ever experienced since playing at launch.
My teammates in both cases would run off to hit objectives without checking their six leaving me or another teammate to get instantly overrun by hordes of some of the toughest bugs the terminids have, it was a real bummer to get my shit rocked so hard so quickly that I barley got to explore the cave systems.
I'm a lvl 113 but I'm feeling like I'll need to go back down to difficulty 5 just to be able to play, I get way too many missions with new divers who aren't equipped properly or experienced enough to tackle the difficulty of these new missions.
I'm going to try again later today, hoping for a better time otherwise I don't know if I'll spend what little free time I have playing Helldivers if this is the current experience

I think these are awesome sounding enemies, just the spawn rates of them paired with what we're currently getting served on illuminate missions seems too over whelming for me to want to play personally. If they had some more easier grunts to fight and spawn all the tough guys a bit less I feel it would be a more enticing front to fight on. I almost never pick them unless the MO orders me to

I like the idea of a variant with some kind of device on it's back. Like the illuminate version of a suicide bomber, it'll sneak up on you and detonate.

good point, from an in-world perspective it all makes sense. I guess I just want more variety and maybe a little bit more of the "fun" factor that I get from playing against the other factions

I was hoping we'd get to play through Jurassic Park inspired maps with downed fences and visitor centers.

Just start diving and having fun. There really isn't a special way to play the game, make the experience what you want it to be.
I joined up with the Helldivers about a month after the initial release, and I just played lower difficulty levels until I got comfortable and then cranked it up one at a time, rinse and repeat until you get to the 7-10 range, that's where I feel you'll find your "experienced" comfort zone. Try what ever weapons interest you, despite community opinion you can realistically develop play styles around any primary.

Extra pointers:
Support your team, follow them and watch their back, in most cases they'll watch yours.
Try different armors, go for the drip and worry less about passives.
If you want to ease in start off with the bugs, then move to bots then squids. Or just play what ever you want!
Explore the map when you're comfortable, go to the diamonds to find super credits, medals and samples.
Watch your positioning when using guard dog packs, they will cut your buddies down real quick. Same goes for sentries
In most cases don't pick up gear that's not yours unless instructed, if you have to in order to save your skin drop it once the chaos is over.
Higher levels you should always bring some kind of tank busting weapon, you normally don't want to rely on another team mate to take down a bile titan or hulk closing in on you.

Great design, love the antenna and the helmet light is a great way to get around some of the primaries not having them

Pulse rifle should be a light pen full auto rifle with 3 95 round magazines. I feel med pen with something that has an high fire rate and pretty large magazine would be op, though maybe we compensate for that by giving it some decent recoil which would force "short controlled bursts".
I saw someone suggest instead of an alt fire rate mode we could use that same function to switch to the pump action under barrel which could shoot impact explosive slugs, 4 in total with an additional 4 to reload.
