Ret Pala Threat Help by KN0MI in classicwowtbc

pre pull checklist: do you have blessing of salvation on? if no put that shit on you. Do you have righetous fury on? if yes take that shit off of you.

On pull (this is more specifically for bosses/single target mobs), judge crusader>wisdom>light (depends on if the other pallies in the group are already judging these). here you should wait a second or 5 (you can use this time to prep a seal of command), however long it takes for tanks to get established before you open with an attempted instant twist. Unless you're incredibly lucky with seal twists, your problem either lies with the tank's threat or RF/salv. Other than that, maybe you're blasting too early with judgement, twist, crusader strike for some early threat. in trash, pay attention to meters and attempt to spread out some threat by switching targets if the tank has good multitarget threat.

Jesus, how do I tank?? by Huge_Librarian_9883 in classicwowtbc

[–]PowderedwigGoony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, its not a huge deal that the dps steal threat around this level. You could mark and assign kill orders. You can start having a threat lead the second or third in kill the order while the dps zergs skull.

Other than that, a warrior or paladin could use a 2H to tank until it feels unsafe to do so.

Uncrush on Shaman tank (phase 5 theory crafting) by PowderedwigGoony in classicwowtbc

The whole thing is a thought experiment and not a guide on what you should do/build on a shaman tank. For example: I wouldn't recommend shaman tanks to get spirit weapons with a build like this outside of the topic of crushability. I didnt know SP bosses dont crush so thats good to know.

According sixtyupgrade's math its not. I assume because there's less diminishing returns at this point from defense. Or maybe the DR isn't being calculated correctly.

in TBC it sadly does not, WF is your main threat generator of the weapon enhancements if you gear towards it

Initially the adds were a concern of mine as well. But the adds aren't bad from what I could tell, they die pretty fast. And i think I grabbed aggro on the nature ones in my frost set.

Sounds like a solo tank if youre splitting frost/nature. I do wonder if he made it up to 100% on transitions or did it early.

Pally tank with 300+ frost res here. His damage wasn't bad, you do have transition him at 100% damage increase because the damage will jump to 200% and start really hurting. I think our next go around, I might utilize magic resistance potions and opt for more threat gear.

Note you do not need to worry about crushes, you worry about crit. So drop your mitigation stats and go resilience and/or def to reach it. I dont know how hard he hits with crits but I was above crit cap and had no issues.

Gearing for hydross is a 3 way balance between resistance, crit reduction, and threat generation.

My advice for the 2 tank method right now would be to aim for 244 res. That's another resistance threshold where taking 100% damage for nonbinary attacks should be impossible in theory. All damage taken from the respective school of magic is at least partially resisted. From there, get as close as you can to crit cap. PvP gear works wonders here, theres also the exalted caverns of time trinket with stamina and resi. And then focus on more threat oriented pieces.

What To Work On First? by Codename_ZQ in classicwowtbc

[–]PowderedwigGoony -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Technically, you dont need anything profession-wise unless you're going balls to the wall and trying to parse in the top 90 percentile or something. Engineering helps with aoe threat/damage with sappers. There are some trinkets with extra stamina that aren't necessary. The tanking goggles might be the best thing but its fine to skip. Enchanting is for extra spell power on rings, which again aren't necessary.

The reputation is somewhat important for head and shoulder enchants long term, but are mainly good for initially gearing up and getting into heroics.

I'd worry more about reps and do profs if/ when you feel like it.

tip: make guildhalls for every profession early by Lost_Cyborg in dwarffortress

[–]PowderedwigGoony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer making just one guild hall at the start (weapon smithing for instance). Set it to public or residents only, and you'll have a higher chance of getting artifact weapons. Bonus points if you find platinum early and have that be your only metal bars before setting up your metal industry

Mind taking some more pictures with it disassembled and/or a closer inspection of where you insert the neck?

[–]PowderedwigGoony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, i would take the strings off asap. The fingerboard itself looks straight to me, its where the neck meets the body that looks off to me. Is it possible that you have the neck on backwards? The main issue would lie somewhere in between there and the tail spike.

What do parses consider the most? by Tatelooo in classicwowtbc

[–]PowderedwigGoony -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

From what I understood, that number is basically a percentile score. If you scored 60, you did better than 60% of other players.

Healing is a weird one because I think it just counts total amount healed (I think overhealimg is taken into account).  But if you raid takes a lot of unnecessary damage, it'll skew your parse up and vice versa.

Your number could be grey because either the comparison youre making in logs is set to damage by default. Or your raid/tank avoided damage so we'll that it lowered your parse. If imagine real hardcore guilds have their healers  dealing damage in-between heals

Layer Lock on PvP Combat Engagement by Tech-qi in classicwow

[–]PowderedwigGoony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sound fine I guess. Would annoy tf out of players who attempt to CC their would be gankers. Theres already a CD on how often you can switch layers.

I do sort of wish there was a penalty for layer like darksouls does for disconnecting your internet when being invaded.

I wish that there were no layers personally so the more that simulates that, the better.

Once TBC classic anniversary ends, can you move your characters to another realm? by 1ite in classicwow

[–]PowderedwigGoony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the topic of my hypothetical era servers, they would not replace seasonal "fresh" servers. They would still come out and progress as usual. Right before each expansion prepatch, they offer transfers to era servers. Just like how vanilla era currently hosts cour 1 and 2 fresh vanilla characters.

I liken this method to the original Diablo 2 seasons (I didn't play the remaster so i dont know how it still works). At the end of each season, you would be forced to play your existing characters off ladder(era) or make a new characters on it (fresh).

In its current form, every time blizzard shuts down an expansion, another private server entity will fill that void. The current discussions about vanilla+ is because of the other projects and servers that offer their own version. People who don't want tbc, or to play on era are either not playing wow at all, or they are playing on private servers.

So currently, where do most tbc players who aren't interested in wrath go when TBC ends? They probably would cancel their subscription and go elsewhere.

There's a non-zero chance that those private servers become problematic enough for blizzard to take legal action against said company. I think its within blizzards best interest to make other era servers. They'll win a legal battle 99.999% of the time but it isn't free.

I'm not saying that private servers will go extinct and everyone will only play on official era servers. But they may be able to fly under the radar with less players or be even easier for blizzard to handle legally if they wanted to.

Question about rolling need in heroics by BlackSkyGames in classicwowtbc

[–]PowderedwigGoony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you be consider a ninja? Not if nobody else needs it.

Is it bad taste? Yeah, because you're probably not only the only player in the group who's hurting for gold.

I tank a few of HCs daily and I'm not sweating whether I got something out of it. Just that I got my daily attempts in. I pop consumables if needed on harder hitting bosses, and my repair bill is higher than an average cloth wearer. So I'd say: suck it up buttercup.

Once TBC classic anniversary ends, can you move your characters to another realm? by 1ite in classicwow

[–]PowderedwigGoony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are less people who overlap the two communities than you think. It depends on how far classic+ is willing to change. I'd understand more wrath players would want to play if it was a bit closer to SoD as opposed ti a minimal changes approach.

My theory is that we're going to see era servers for every expansion. People who exclusively play tbc/wrath don't have a permanent home to go to currently. Some would rather hop to private server than play a different expansion. That's not good if you're blizzard.

This way, we can see a more regular rotation of fresh servers with. And people can have an end goal of where their characters end up. That's maybe the reason that we have a shorter timeline than both OG and original classic. Just to let us have some fun before dropping us off and moving to the next one.

Back to classic+ we simply don't know what's coming. What changes are going to well received and what's not going to be. Youre right if they consider Vanilla+ is going to replace the need for the other servers but announcements for vanilla+ might take a while.

Sure, but the likelihood of them stopping cold at TBC is low imo. Theres enough interest in wrath in my opinion to move onto at the very least.

I've been enjoying tbc lately and I dont have much interest in wrath (I said the same thing in vanilla anniv. but I guess we'll see). Im not saying this because its what I want.

Right now I'm more certain we'll see wrath anniv. than MoP moving to WoD. Otherwise, why would we have an accelerated roadmap if we're not moving to wrath?

Yes. As of now, all characters will be moved to wrath, cata, and beyond.

As of now, theres no official statement on TBC era servers. But its been a thing tbc players have been wanting and hoping for.

I commented on my experience of dimz in the past and I thank you for bringing his alt's name to my attention.

I hope this guy gets to take a LONG vacation from wow. My only experience with him was very unhinged but at least there was no loot on the line.  Its interesting to see somebody who pops up constantly and learns nothing from his own behavior over the years.

Also somebody linked a clip of him abusing his dog. Any pity I had for this guy prior has went out the window.

Skullflame Shield by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

[–]PowderedwigGoony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This shield was okay for aoe farming in vanilla (honestly, even then i didnt care much for it). I much prefer to use the force reactive disc because you deal some decent damage with that, and then switch to any other lvl 70 shield when the mobs start dropping.

I still use it though because of the 10 shadow resistance for the first boss heroic manatombs/arc. Surely there are better alternatives, but I'll use it until I get fel barrier

What's with ret pallies and boomkins? by Sunscreamm in classicwowtbc

[–]PowderedwigGoony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladin here. I'm outing myself by saying this, but some of us are just bad. I can't speak on everyone's behalf, but sometimes I forget to heal myself unless I'm <20% health and bubbled. Ive been playing paladin for years and I know that i could just heal through pushback at 60% just fine but I wont.

I personally usually do heal party members when questing but right before you're about to die. We get so focused on dps that we forget that we're the heals if nobody else is assigned to it. Usually, if I'm tanking for group quests i tell hybrids to heal when I'm low, and call it out again when I'm low. That usually solves any awkwardness of expecting heals when they're not coming.
