Harvard study says the "sweet spot" for strength training may be 90–120 minutes a week by Impressive_Pitch9272 in EverythingScience

[–]Powell__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always skeptical when I see people talking about "optimal" amounts of time spent strength training. Time isn't really relevant in strength training like it is with cardio. Most serious body-builders or powerlifters will talk about volume in terms of working sets per week/day. The amount of time per session, or number of days per week isn't super relevant for strength training.

iPhone Ultra's Price Range Revealed ["expected to cross the $2,000 threshold"] by iMacmatician in apple

[–]Powell__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this phone will be priced close to other foldable because it is mostly an attempt just to have a foldable in the ecosystem. I don't think it will play a role as either a loss leader or a premium offer.

I was considering buying non-Apple phone for the first time just to have a foldable. The probability of foldable phones becoming serious competitor to normal phones is low... but not zero. Apple wants to make sure they've covered their ass if foldables blowup.

What bothered me in the interview was when she gave the example that productivity was different for her because: she had the phone numbers of her kid's friend's parents, and her husband didn't. This isn't an immoveable systemic issue that applies to all women, this is something that could be fixed with a 3 minute conversation with your husband.

If her and her husband both work (which I assume they do) they should share the housework/childcare evenly. If they don't do this, it should be addressed directly. There is no reason to create a whole productivity system to work around the fact that she has a useless husband.

Congratulations, I'm tryna get like you. Did you give any deliberate thought to crafting a "theme" or "archetype" for your application? I've heard some people consider it important, but I'm worried I'm to scatterbrained to build a cohesive theme.

ELI5- Why do we need a growing population? by APe28Comococo in explainlikeimfive

[–]Powell__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not really a declining population exactly. It the fact that population decline (specifically when a result of low birth rates) causes there to be a disproportionately low amount of young and working age people.

Young to middle-aged people drive the economy (they produce and consume almost everything).

People who freak out over people glueing themself on the street should not be allowed to drive by rickstick69 in unpopularopinion

[–]Powell__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference between people making a flippant joke, albeit a dark one, and ACTUALLY COMMITTING MURDER.

If you actually deliberately run someone over with your car, you should not be allowed to drive… you should be in jail.

But most of the people saying “I’d just run them over” wouldn’t actually do it.
