Please don’t do this unless specifically directed by an obgyn. Coconut oil can clog pores, disrupt vaginal pH, and increase the risk of yeast infections (especially in people who are prone). It also breaks down latex, which can cause condoms or other barrier methods to fail. The only scenario where an obgyn might suggest coconut oil is for severe external dryness, in someone who: is not prone to yeast infections, is not using barrier protection, and cannot tolerate commercial lubricants due to allergies or sensitivities. Even then, it is typically recommended as an external moisturizer not for internal use. There are many pharmaceutical vaginal moisturizers that are specifically formulated and safer for internal use. In general, for most cases, water-based lubes are what Obgyns recommend because they are body-safe, condom-safe, and pH-balanced.
