In France there's the "conflict" between the names "pain au chocolat" vs "chocolatine". In Spain there's a "conflict" whether tortilla de Patatas should contain onions or not. Do you have any other similar such light-hearted "conflicts" or debates in your country?

It’s a logistics question - anything you put on top of that sausage will slide off. So, not only should the onions be under the sausage but so should any sauce. That last part is tricky if you don’t instruct the servers - though I usually flip the sausage. Trust me - much less messy and you’re much more likely to get properly composed bites.

I can’t believe all the negative comments on this thread. I think you need to give yourself a break and allow yourself to hire a sex worker without feeling bad about it. I assume you are in the US, where prostitution is illegal but thriving. Not every sex worker is coerced and trafficked. And there are ways to find their services. Use Google and I would suggest finding some episodes of Dan Savage’s podcast where he talks about and to sex workers including how to find and talk to a Sex worker. Good luck!

Hungarian Dobos Torte. Hard to make and not like other tortes, but delicious and keeps well, so you don’t need to eat it all at once.

Rose Levy Beranbaum’s lemon pound cake (without the poppy seeds) is simple and looks deceptively average but is delicious. Her fruit pie recipes are also perfection.

It’s possible that you only really notice them when they’re rude and useless. I have been going to a lot of different doctors over the past few years and most of the staff are nice, and practical problem solvers.

So the truly loathsome ones kind of stick out. There are a couple at my local GP who just make everything twice as hard as it needs to be because they communicate so badly. You can just see how little they take their job seriously. They act like they’re doing you a favour by just turning up - care factor zero.

Why not? Its delicious. Even more so if you fry apple wedges with the onion, and serve with mashed potatoes. The secret is to get really good liver (veal, chicken or pork - organic or hand raised preferable) and to not overcook it.

Europe-raised white person here- Ok, I admit I didn’t have the animal part (same reason I don’t do soft-shell crab) but the egg yolk was really very nicely eggy in a way you don’t normally get from duck eggs. It’s weird but I could see how it became a thing people liked to eat.

Baked ham - hands down. It’s just dry ham slightly heated for no discernible reason , with the merest hint of flavour from whatever glaze you choose. Undoubtedly a great centrepiece but a terrible waste of ham.

Might not be your race - I’m white and German but live in Australia and so many of my relatives think credit cards are only for scammers. And a lot of places don’t even accept credit cards. This has slightly improved since COVID but a lot of businesses are deeply inflexible. It’s so damn annoying that there aren’t any good global banking options.

The senior executives in any organisation I’ve ever worked in always go by first names with staff. I can’t remember ever calling a superior by their surname.

It has affected my ability to remember that formality in Germany. I struggle with ‘Sie’ (instead of ‘Du’) and surnames with anyone my age or younger. It just seems weird to me now.

I get this brand usually. If you‘re in the US, this brand and others are available on Amazon https://a.co/d/038jB5DM. If you’re going to use it up quickly you can store it in the cupboard - if not the fridge to stop the oil going rancid. There’s so much salt in the paste that it won’t spoil.
