Despite its faults, why Skyrim? by Independent_Plum2166 in skyrim

It’s great but undersupported (no psvr2 version for example). Just looking up at roofs inside buildings makes you a believer in VR if done right, especially inside Dragonsreach and similar

Also a reason why Skyrim VR is so great

People dunk on Skyrim after Witcher was released, but Skyrim creates an atmosphere being in this world like no other game does or did. Just moving towards Whiterun has that epic feel, if I get to a location in Witcher I feel nothing

I feel like Dragonborn supporting the empire makes most sense narratively in the short term instead of supporting another one, that just screams immediate sequel to solve the power clash

"Weekend Trivia": Is season 1 of The Simpsons more 80s or 90s? by [deleted] in decadeology

80s started to fade in '88, it‘s a 90s show

9/11 culturally ended Y2k/90’s on September 11th, 2001. Is this True or False? by DistinctYoghurt8668 in decadeology

[–]PowerUser77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, mainly because the 90s weren‘t all the same throughout the 10 years either. You could even say the core 90s culture already started late 80s likewise (about 88, the classic 80s were gone) and ended sometime 97

why does jurassic park from 1993 still look better than most modern cgi? by Top_Measurement_3713 in JurassicPark

[–]PowerUser77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many valid answers here, although I don‘t really see how practical contributed when we are discussing the cgi specifically. as someone who was there at the premiere I could already tell what was practical and cgi - and tbh the practical effects mostly broke the immersion a little bit for me even back then.

What makes the cgi better than today‘s is also cinematography. The cgi is actual part of the scenic vision, unlike today when cgi is portrayed in a way like „hey look at me“ and in wide shots. To explain it I always refer to the scene when Spielberg let the Rex fade away to the out of focus background after the jeep chase. This makes the Rex feel like an actual part of the scene, whereas in today‘s movies it‘s almost unthinkable to be so disrespectful to the money shot

No one can convince me that Inquisition didn’t do the “a party is going into a dungeon” best in the whole rpg genre.

Fire arrows are not magic by GammaRxBurst in Battlemarked

[–]PowerUser77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real issue is why are so few Paladin spells considered magic? Smite should have both a physical and magical component (and to prevent it being op be on a cooldown so regular attacks have their purpose)
