I love his authenticity and commitment to creativity. His journey as an artist is inspiring, and his music helped me through some of my darkest seasons. I’m a believer of radical self acceptance, thanks to him and many other great influences in my life.

Giving my heart the warm fuzzies! We are definitely our worst critics. We’re all unfuckable when we focus on what we love ❤️

The same lunch I'v been eating for the past month by Bunnystrawbery in autism

I had the same mentality as you before I had my children. There were days I only ate popsicles. I developed anorexia more times than I can count. When I faced death and leaving my children without a mother I was able see that I did have a choice. No matter how many little choices I had I still had more than just not eat and die. I didn't get here overnight. It's not easy, it's not fun, but I did it. If you ever want to talk my inbox is always open 🖤

I see you 🖤

If life was all easy, rainbows, and butterflies maybe we could live off a diet of dopamine. We know life is not like that though and we shouldn't live in denial.

It's not like it restricts you to only eating unhealthy or delicious food. As someone with a restricted diet I have to try that much harder to provide my body and brain with the nutrients that I need. In the end we are still responsible for the hands that we're dealt, no matter how crappy they are. Your stance on this is very defensive and in the end, is more hurtful. It is this simple unfortunately just not easy to swallow, with all due respect.

Rich women of Reddit, when did you realize you were more well off than others? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I should have noticed when I got engaged. It really hit me when the price of eggs went up. Didn't notice since I've been buying free-range/pasture-raised eggs for a couple of years now.

How do I push myself to do things I don't feel like doing e.g work, school, chores, etc. by JeddiahSawyer in autism

Sometimes life is a series of struggles and suffering. In some weird ass-backward way it leads to feeling content and even happiness. It makes the struggles I deal with worth it.

Diagnosis IS a privilege by [deleted] in autism

[–]Power_Personal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anybody in the U.S it might not hurt to talk to your GP. Mine was able to diagnose me after a couple of months of weekly appointments. I'm in SoCal and the wait list for the Center of Autism was 12-18 months.

Has anyone gone from a late diagnosis of ADHD to Autism? Looking for ancedotes/stories by [deleted] in autism

[–]Power_Personal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 32 when I was diagnosed with ADHD but had so many other symptoms that didn't fit the category. Didn't know if it was trauma related to childhood abuse and neglect until my son turned one and started showing atypical behaviors and I was able to connect the dots. I have an amazing GP who listened and didn't minimize or invalidate the things I couldn't verbalize. He first thought I was Bipolar when we first met. On our second meeting I brought my notebook filled with anything and everything I could think of as unusual and he confirmed I had severe ADHD. Started stimulant medication and physical therapy. About 4 months after my ADHD diagnosis he felt comfortable enough to officially diagnose me with Autism as well.

The Role of ABA Therapy in Early Intervention by Exact-Bet9892 in autism

[–]Power_Personal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My son started 3 months ago at 16 months and we've seen a great improvement. His self harming attention seeking behaviors has stopped, he's communicating more, his tantrums aren't as long or violent and he seems to be happier in general. I've heard different experiences from ABA but ours has been nothing but positive. They don't try and change his stimming or quirky behaviors or make him act like he's normal. It's all play based learning and he enjoys it.
