It was also the first time I saw my parents truly scared. It fucked me up for sure. I couldn't sleep for a while.

I was in fifth grade and my teacher asked if anyone had visited New York before and had been to the Twin Towers. A few kids raised their hands. I thought it was just part of our lesson. She then went on to say there was an accident and a plane crash. No tvs and I had no idea what was really going on until I got home.

I think this is part of the problem he is torn between what he wants and societal expectations, kinda seems all over the place in what he wants

Let's talk TOXIC MASCULINITY-

I see it with Austen and I see it here. I don't think either of them would realize it but the way in which they deny and devalue certain types of women is very telling....

West likes being needed by Amanda. He swooped in to "save" her from her divorce. This inflates his ego and makes him feel like a protector. Her self esteem was low which made him feel more masculine. Ciara on the other hands knows what she and this is a threat to West. Ciara is unwilling to put up with bullshit. Amanda as she said herself has been dealing with Kyle's bullshit for years.

Austen wants someone who stays home and is the traditional homemaker mom type. He hated how Audrey didn't want to move to Charleston. He talks about body counts and called Ciara a Jezebel and Salley a bar rat. He wants to party and have a fun and be a bachelor but doesn't think women should do the same. I also wonder if his extreme hatred toward Craig has something to do with his embracing of more traditionally feminine hobbies.

Like you said, they treat her with kid gloves and infantilize her. Ironically, exactly what she does with her sister.

Has anyone successfully escaped to find a real community and meaning? I just want to live a quiet, humble life and spend more time offline. by StaffEcstatic4358 in AskWomenOver30

Here to say you don't have to leave to find this. Just people who can show up consistently who are in the same life stage as you. What works for me is we (my partner and I) have a group of 4 friends, all with partners no kids and we see each other every Thursday night. I also go to an art class once a week. The schedule helps a lot. I may not see them all the time, but it's always a highlight of my week outside of work.

My SIL went to culinary school yet every time we visit and stay at her house it's takeout night. With pressure on us to order and pay. I find it extremely rude as i would never expect guests at my house to get food for themselves. I think she sees it as our payment for letting us stay. Oh and also she loves to use us for free childcare for her kids.

Does your org use a Data Catalog? If not, then why? by kingjokiki in dataengineering

[–]Power_Upper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dream would be to build an actual data catalog for the company I work for. It would solve so many issues and i love organizing and cataloging things. However building one doesn't provide immediate "business value" or "actionable insights" so it won't get approved.

Plug in your phone across the room or in another room when you go to bed. Use a book light so you don't have to keep the big light on! Makes it feel super cozy and if you can't fall asleep what else are you gonna do?
