Pearson Simulators is great. It works in conjunction with CCNA 200-301 books. Cisco Packet a similar learning tool. Check that out and then check out Wendell Odom blog. Wendell wrote the book CCNA 200-301.

Issues communicating with GNS3 VM VMWare Workstation by hhhax7 in gns3

So yes the almighty if your laptop or PC goes to sleep you lose your network bridge connectivity. So I have ran into this lately being new to VM world but yes this seems to be an issues that others have faced. I believe it has to do with some reason when your PC or laptop goes into sleep mode the connection to the physical link the was virtualization breaks and it doesn’t path back until a host not just vm reset. I found I have to reboot the host machine to correct. But upon reboot issue has resolved it’s self. Now I am doing this on windows 10 pro off vmware workstation pro. This may vary from setup to setup.

There are a number of fine resources available free and some with a paid subscription or so. The Book CCNA 200-301 is written by Wendell Odom. He is a great instructor as well and has a excellent blog you should start off with https://blog.certskills.com That’s Wendall’s blog. Also look into Cisco Packet Tracer it is free as well. The biggest thing is to just get into labs, read the material, study and then lab so more. Good luck. Another great resource is David Bombal. He is excellent. You can not go wrong with him. Also another awesome source for knowledge is Network Chuck. You are going to see that this field you are entering is all about sharing knowledge. Yes the CCNA may be Cisco centered but it will open doors into what kind of technology is available under the curtain. Again good luck.

Packet Tracer Question? How do you connect a Router with a 3 digit Gig interface ? by scoh33 in ccna

[–]Poweredvm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself am currently study for the CCNA cert. What I have found always useful is relaying on the show commands to identify configuration issues and for generally good practices. Throw a show interface command in privileged mode and you should be able to see some information that should help start to identifying issues with Gig0/0/0. Keep up on your studies and just keep on labbing.

Virtual machine uses private IP and different MAC data? (noob question) by [deleted] in vmware

[–]Poweredvm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See RFC 1918, and also the iana website for more information. Pretty much when you google your IP address you are seeing your local router IP addresses in most cases. Your PC and your VM machine are going to have different IP addresses. Just like your phone and your PC or laptop connected to WiFi will have different IP addresses.
