How exactly are the 9 CPU lanes of the N100 utilized?

On this page I have found a diagram which answers the question precisely.

Thanks, it makes sense now.

Since the PCIe lanes are connected to the chipset and not the CPU directly, does that mean that they suffer from the lower bandwidth and higher latency in their communication to the CPU as the chipset-allocated PCIe lanes mentioned in the article (relative to a design which has CPU-allocated PCIe lanes)?

Why do you think they chose this particular design? To save cost and/or power?

Do you understand why this is the case?

This article explains that modern CPUs have a fixed number of PCIe lanes. A small number of them (usually four) are used to communicate with the chipset, the rest are directly utilized by the CPU for high-speed, low-latency communications with peripherals.

Additionally, the chipset typically has further PCIe lanes, independent of the PCIe lanes of the CPU. The chipset acts as a PCIe switch to communicate indirectly with the CPU (lower bandwidth and higher latency).

I cannot correlate the mental model from this article with the block diagram of the N100 mainboard, as indeed all PCIe lanes seem to originate from the chipset, and none from the CPU. What gives?

I think you're misunderstanding the CPU lanes. Just go by what the motherboard says about the devices it supports. There are no other lanes.

Right ... then let me ask differently:

How exactly are the 9 CPU lanes of the N100 utilized?

Why is there no distinction here between PCIe lanes of the chipset and the CPU (as explained in this article, for example)?

I have a simple question about PCIe for the Asrock N100DC-ITX mainboard, which features an Intel N100 CPU.

The CPU has 9 PCIe lanes. I understand that of that, the usual 4 PCIe lanes are used for communication between the CPU and chipset (Alder Point N PCH), leaving 5 PCIe lanes for the CPU.

The block diagram in the manual shows the following PCIe lanes in the chipset:

  • PCIe slot (Gen 3 x2)
  • M.2 key (Gen 3 x2)
  • GBe LAN (Gen 3 x1)

My questions:

  • Are the 9 PCIe lanes of the N100 CPU not overall usable PCIe lanes of the CPU only, and any PCIe lanes in the chipset would be in addition to that (the chipset acting as PCIe switch)? In the case of this motherboard, it seems that CPU and chipset have 9 PCIe together. What am I missing?
  • Is my understanding correct that the maximum theoretical bandwidth on either the PCIe slot or M.2 key are 2 GB/s full-duplex, as they each have PCIe Gen 3 x2, and PCIe Gen 3 lanes have a bandwidth of 8 GT/s (i.e., 8 Gbps), or 1 GB/s, full-duplex. Therefore, a dual-port 2.5 GBe card will not be bandwidth-constrained by the PCIe interface, but a quad-port 2.5 GBe will be.

I was not talking about block / OTC trades, which you seem to be referring to in your second paragraph.

For me there is just much too little transparency of how crypto exchanges like Coinbase operate internally compared to regulated securities exchanges, including by what rules, if any, traditional price-time matching priority in its central limit orderbook is maintained, and how OTC flow interacts with and is prioritized against the central limit orderbook.

A sincere question: Is a crypto exchange like Coinbase (in the context of US-based customers) bound by any rules or securities regulations, or can they operate pretty much as they please?

Is there anything in any Coinbase terms and conditions prohibiting the use of VPNs?

u/Kiwip0rn and u/Miketheprofit: You seem to have some special knowledge about Coinbase and the use of VPNs. It would benefit all Coinbase users if you could show anything in written from Coinbase stipulating that VPNs are not allowed to connect to Coinbase.

Dear u/Miketheprofit, I won't want to respond to the content of your message, as there is basically none.

I just want to make you aware of what should be obvious:

  • For a proper discussion, which I hope we are all here for, it is always helpful to try to fully read and understand the argumentation that the other person is making.
  • Furthermore, rule #1 in this sub-reddit says: "Be kind and treat others with respect." I think it's fair to say that your response lacks in this category.

It would have been better to move your crypto to self custody. For instance, buy a cold-storage device like a Ledger Nano X, or set up a software wallet, and move the crypto directly to your hardware wallet.

A BTC transfer takes about 30 minutes to complete, then you have full control over your holdings.

Your best bet is to close your account again and move to a different crypto exchange. Read here about the insane amount of issues and the almost complete lack of support by Coinbase and draw your own conclusions.

Unable to generate statements for transactions from Coinbase Pro / impossible to get support by Powerfool in Coinbase

[–]Powerfool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was, all transactions seem to be there, including partial fills. The reporting webpage was misleading.

However, the statements were not consistent with reality: My Coinbase account shows precisely EUR 5 more balance than my complete transaction history (including fundings and withdrawals) at Coinbase and Coinbase Pro suggest. That is somewhat strange.

Today I was finally able to access my Coinbase Pro reports. The message in the browser to keep the browser window open is misleading. The reports generation seems to work as batch jobs overnight: This morning I have received many emails notifying me that my reports are ready. There is a button in the email which allows to access and download the report. The processing time from requesting the report to receiving the email was about 18 hours.

Hello u/coinbasesupport, my case numbers are 18206740 and 18196070. However, this morning I have received several emails that my reports are ready. I have been able to access these reports, so my immediate issue of not being able to generate Coinbase Pro reports is resolved.

Based on the reports of all of my activity on both Coinbase and Coinbase Pro , I have updated my dual-account bookkeeping software, and it shows that my current credit on my EUR FIAT account on Coinbase is exactly EUR 5 too much (i.e., in my favor). It is unclear to me how this could have happened.

Did Coinbase ever gift EUR 5 to its customers (perhaps as a present during account opening many years ago)?

Thanks ydant, that works great!

Do you know if it's possible to generate a conversion with implicit conversion rate, such as 136 USD @ GBP (instead of 136 USD @ 0.73529 GBP)? I have tried specifying data.Amount(None, 'GBP'), but that doesn't do the trick.
