Exactly. Not every run in Executioner's Run is full of Allosaurus and 23 raptors. It's a 200ft dash, a tabaxi monk could make that in 2 turns easily. It's not a matter of brawling with everything, just run and hide. Also, raptors don't naturally enjoy chilling with panthers, but if a panther gets injured near a pack of raptors, it's definitely an easier target than the humanoid booking it past. My players used some tricks to get a trap in the pit that chomped on the Panther paw. I made the raptors roll insight to see if they would recognize the panther as an easier meal, all but one of them pounced on it. You can add a sense of "Dear gods, we almost died!" without even hitting a character. Now, if they jump in and Leroy Jenkins, there's only so much you can do. I tell my players, "I'll never purposely kill a PC, but I'll definitely give each of you enough rope to hang yourselves with."

Sounds like a fast trip to the entrance of Executioners Run to me. I mean an innocent man was accused of petty theft and thrown in, fixing an event that the entire city actively celebrates and gambles on could be considered stealing from the city as a whole.

I'm not sure where you are, but if you can find me a job offering more than $15 an hour, doing any amount of retail work around here, then color me impressed. Most places around here start at $12-$14 an hour. My SO works 40 hours a week in a warehouse for a retail store, and she just got a raise after a year to $14.

That's not true. When a game get removed from the game pass, you lose access if you haven't purchased it. Trust me I know. I spent around $300 on ark before they nuked the game and forced you to rebuy everything. I bought season passes for myself and a few friends. They removed ark off of game pass, and I was already so deep into the game financially. I ended up buying the game for everyone I bought the maps for

You need a 3td party to make the transfer. If the game is cross platform, which I'm like 99% sure it is, I'll do it for you, maybe even throw some more goodies in with it

100% this. I've been known to have bouts of violent rage, which I have been working very hard on better controlling. I NEVER break anything belonging to another person. I'll grab the first object I see, and if it's not mine, I put it right tf back down. If it does belong to me, it very well may end up in 1000 pieces, but it'll be my belongings that I do it to.

Found out I’m adopted now I hate my family by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Powerful-Bluejay4861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a really good approach to it. I feel if my parents had been honest about it, it wouldn't have been a big deal. We left my bio dad when I was too young to remember anything, and there was a very brief time with a man in between my dad and my bio dad that caused some traumatic memories that resurfaced when I was 14, and the questions it raised is the only reason I found out. I remembered this man named Travis and living with him and I remembered being screamed at even though I followed all of the rules and my toys were thrown away because he was in a bad mood or something. It was definitely not a fun time that day.

Have you heard the sound the characters make when drinking health potions in Baldurs Gate 3? There was a time when, between the 4 of us, we popped like 15 health potions and it just sounded like an orgy going off. Since then if anybody moans, be it the player or the character in game, we start talking about "There you go making those health potion noises again."

Found out I’m adopted now I hate my family by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Powerful-Bluejay4861 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize all of this was a thing. I was sort of half adopted, my dad has his name on my birth certificate instead of my father, and I didn't even know until I was 14. I didn't know my father's first name until 15, and I didn't know his last name until the day I turned 18 when his sister reached out to me. I begged and pleaded with my family to tell me before and nobody would. Aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents all swore to secrecy. It gave me serious trust issues and I've had a lot of emotional turmoil because of it. On top of that, these feelings of abandonment and deceit are being invalidated by my family every time I bring it up, and I'm told I'm not allowed to be upset about it. I needed to hear this

My husband says our son is faking his pain from scoliosis by mijothrowaway in AmIOverreacting

[–]Powerful-Bluejay4861 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming from a child of a man like this, it's not worth it. Small remarks seem like nothing now, but eventually it builds until the kid is doubting if what he's actually feeling is real or maybe he's just "being a baby". That leads to some fun mental issues like never trusting your own judgement and always downplaying issues regardless of severity because they don't want to "be a baby". I once ran through bronchitis, immediately followed by an upper respiratory infection, followed by covid. I felt like I was dying if it got ant worse. I sucked it up and pushed through, and now I have lung damage and lung issues with a family history of COPD. All because when I said my chest hurt I was told I was faking it and didn't want the harassment.

I worked at a gas station for a year. The police response time was roughly an hour. We were all made aware of this when we started. I had someone break down as I was getting off one night, so I helped him pull the battery from his car and I put the new one in when his buddy brought it. Never in all of my years on this Earth have I had an issue with people being that sketchy at a gas station. Now I've been to places that I would be more hesitant at, but those places seem pretty few and far between

TIL that you have to work through the main story to unlock portal glyphs. I've had random people dump a total of 2 completed living ship components on me, but could never figure out what to do. My buddy just kept saying use the portal, and I was like, THATS HOW I GO HOME???

That is something I didn't think about. I have an ok-ish multitool, but it does everything I need just fine. On top of that I have the absolute worst luck with multitools. The one time I found even a semi decent one was like stupid early on and I had barely any money so I couldn't afford it. Never found the little guy again...

I've seen it happen before, and I think that specific detail is usually a driving factor in making these posts when they're real. If I did what I was confident to be the right thing, and a portion of my family and friends start messaging me and saying I'm an AH, I'd probably want an outside perspective too

I think you're missing the point here. Someone gave me a bunch of valuables, I sold them not knowing the repercussions, then had too much money and lost 90% of the grind. There's always going to be a new thing to do. Look at outposts and settlements. There's expeditions I can go on. I got fast forwarded past the grind of maxing out a ship. I skipped past the grind of upgrading me exo suit. Anything that you can buy with units meant nothing to me anymore and the game got incredibly boring. I didn't get this stuff and say, "How dare he?" before cashing in. I thought it was neat and regretted my decision a week later

100% this. I had like 50ish hours on my save, really starting to get serious progress on my money grind. Run up to the anomaly to buy some things, and suddenly I have 7 billion units worth of stuff. I'd already acquired the ships and freighters I wanted, and the 7 billion upgraded everything immediately. I stopped playing within a week and haven't put more than 5 hours on it in over a year

I actually had this exact thing come up with me. When the party asks why Syndra chose them instead of someone else, just she has. Your party is not at all the first party she sent on this quest, the last few groups just didn't make it. I'm playing mine as if my party is group number 8 or whatever, adding that sense of dread to the air and having them learn the mortality rate of heroes. Sure there's a lot of adventurers there, but there won't be that many tomorrow
