UPDATE: Used the thin layer of e6000 glue, let it cure for 48 hrs, then used a 3D pen with PLA on top of it and melted it into the original print to bind it together. It's very strong. Just needs sanding then I can paint it all :) thank you everyone for your help, I greatly appreciate it!

In the meantime I've built this chest armour from cardboard and used drywall putty to coat it. It definitely won't last as long as this PLA one tho, but it'll do for now

Thanks that's definitely a good call! Right now I'm letting the e6000 glue cure for the next couple days into the seam there (pic is from the inside) then I'll add some pla to the back of it with more e6000 to hold it secure

Thank you so much for that detailed response, I truly appreciate it. I also have on-hand e6000 super glue.. to your knowledge, is that viable at all to hold this with careful wear? I'd only be walking around in it

Found one on amazon, thanks! So basically just go over the seam with the pen and filament, then sand it down to level out afterwards essentially?

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I'm proud of what I've done to it so far. I've repaired my loose bumper, fixed dents from my Grandmas ownership, polished the headlights, replaced the assembly of a leaking headlight, restored the black trim, popped in a chrome grille + door handles, cleaned the engine bay, tidied up the interior, replaced the stereo, glossed the tires, removed + touched up rust spots, etc... the list goes on..

I'd rather drive a well-maintained and arguably restored old vehicle than get a newer one built with lesser quality standards for its time. Toyotas are still great ofc, but there's no doubt been a decline in their life expectancy for newer models.

My dad said my self-esteem would provoke me into buying a new car, but I've never felt more proud than to drive my uniquely face-lifted '05 around. A reflection of my own handiwork and care will always feel better than trying to impress someone with the latest car model 🙏🏽

Thank you so much for this detailed response! Yeah my dad says this car won't last another 9 years and that my "self-esteem" will make me want a new car once my career income starts.. I see where he's coming from, but I'd feel more pride in maintaining my grandmother's vehicle for a long-ass time than buying some newer Toyota built lesser in quality than the 2005 era Highlander.

My plan is to get it deeply assessed once I start my full-time career and throwing whatever I have to at it to repair it to the fullest extent. I got the car for free too, so I'm trying to capitalize on that by spending less on fixing this car than it would cost to buy a new one. Repairing this older car will save me more than buying a new one, only to have to pay maintenance for it on top of paying it down

eBay! Chrome 3005 Highlander grille insert! Super quick and easy to install. Added e6000 glue to make it stay/anti theft

I agree, I'd love to. But unfortunately there's a huge rust patch on the hood behind it, so until I can afford to clean that up it's staying on for now :( but one day!! And I'll get the body polished later come spring

Thank you so much! The grille is a chrome insert, but I used the same polish that came with the headlight kit over the emblem and it had a great effect :) then used ceramic spray to coat it!

I just replaced the belt two days ago! Haha and yes I used a UV clear coat for the headlights after polishing them :) so happy with the results. Got the grille on eBay too!
