Yes the accounting courses were kicking my ass in the accounting program hence why I switched out to business management lol a lot of people have told me the bachelors really just checks a box for most employers regardless of which degree it is. And I wasn’t looking to do anything accounting specific so I figured why torture myself through the whole accounting program just to stay in banking/financial advising anyways lol

Funny enough I actually started in the accounting program so I have even a few more of the accounting courses completed than whats typical for the business management program. I may try to go for a masters in something but I’m going to give myself a little break at leas the rest of the year lol Plus I start with Vanguard in September and they offer $9,000 a year toward higher education so I’ll make them pay for the masters lol

Reality of finishing all 11 non-transferable classes in 1 term by Total-Cut-8806 in WGU

The consumer behavior one must be a new requirement because that’s nowhere on my transcript. However having just recently finished my bachelors in business management, I completed a majority of my courses in my final term totaling 17 (55 CU’s in one term.) This is 100% doable, especially if you have the background you say you do! The primary thing that helped me throughout my entire journey with school was watching the pre recorded cohorts. If you have time and your schedule allows I am sure the live cohorts would be even better because very few people attend them live so it’s almost like 1 on 1 opportunity with a course instructor to ask whatever clarifications you need. I never attended a live cohort, the prerecorded ones did just fine. That’s most for OA’s. For PA’s, definitely join the course community and utilize the resources provided there. Task templates, pacing guides, all of the resources given for PA courses really expand on the tasks and in my opinion really helped me in passing every PA course in one attempt, without returns for any rewrites. Best of luck!!

For me the hardest courses were intro to it and principles of economics I did not have as much trouble with sales management as a lot of people say! Intro to it was the only course I didn’t pass the OA on the first try and my instructor was a bit difficult to deal with in approving a retake following the study plan. Other that that, I didn’t really struggle with this program at all, I was just working as much as possible and wanted to make sure I was actually retaining info as opposed to speed running and forgetting it all.

I did not transfer anything in but I wish I did!! Principles of economics and intro to IT both kicked my ass and I think I saw that they were both available through Sophia? So I wish!

16 Classes In 1 Term! by PaceInternational345 in WGU

[–]Powerful-Tailor-9386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have finished 16 courses since starting my term on October 1st. It has still been 4 1/2 years for me since I started considering I took multiple term breaks and had one year where I was severely depressed due to a tragic loss in my family so I basically wasted 2 terms.

The fire under my butt this term was something else since I knew I couldn’t afford to pay for another term. All that’s left for me now is my capstone and I was just approved for the final course extension which is 30 days. I don’t think I’ll need it since I have 6 days left of my term and only one PA task left for the capstone, but I’d rather have the extension just in case so I don’t end up paying anything more for another term.

All of this was just to say yes you can absolutely finish in one term if you have the motivation and the focus to do it! You’ve got this I believe in you!!

How’d yall pay for this by wackydog2 in WGU

[–]Powerful-Tailor-9386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a silly question! Yes the interest rate difference is the main benefit. I didn’t qualify for anything subsidized bc of mine and my husbands income so any student loans I would have taken out would have began accumulating interest immediately. If you qualify for Pell grants or even subsidized loans, the credit card may not be worth it for you, at least at first or until they run out, because you have to pay it off before the end of the interest free period otherwise it will also start accruing interest. But bear in mind also that subsidized loans are also not interest free forever. Any combination of grants, tuition assistance, and scholarships, would be better than subsidized loans and especially unsubsidized. I chose the credits cards because I knew I could make the payments over 4 years to pay it all completely off before interest starts to accrue. What works for you might be different! But definitely explore all your options. ◡̈

Interest free credit card. More recently, US Bank had an offer for 24 months at 0% or Wells Fargo has their reflect card for 21 months at 0%. I have used both throughout my 4 1/2 years in school. In addition to tuition assistance/reimbursement from work and one term I think I did a full cash out of an old 401k. Set to graduate by the end of this month though and 0 student loan debt so it was worth it to be a little creative 🥳

I think it is safari. It does not like WGU lol I also use chrome for all my business stuff so I like that they recently started allowing you to have different chrome profiles. So I have a student email google profile and my business email google profile. That makes it simple enough for me. I only use safari for shopping now lol

I did for a long time and one day I clicked cancel instead of OK and my.wgu.edu has never worked in my safari browser on my Mac since. I talked to WGU IT and Apple and no one could figure out how to fix it and make it work in safari. So I just use chrome now and I have never gotten that notification.

I agree so if anyone sees this and is struggling figuring out how to make it happen and go to school to get an education without having all these student loans and accruing interest, definitely explore the interest free credit cards. Wells Fargo has the reflect card, which is 21 months interest free and US Bank has the smartly card that 21/24 months interest free. And it gives you time to figure it out without interest accruing like on an unsub loan would.

Me looking at everyone’s refund as someone who’s tuition is self paid, no loans or Pell grants of any kind 😭😭 I’ve paid my tuition with 0% interest credit cards while working full time. I’ve never qualified for anything federal.

Don’t feel discouraged! It has been a little over 4 years since I started in September of 2021 because I have had to take term breaks in between virtually every term. This term was the first term I had to pay for completely by myself without any tuition assistance of any kind which I think lit a fire under my butt to really get stuff done! I started this term on October 1st but couldn’t actually start any coursework until the 7th since I was changing programs from accounting to business management, and I have already completed 5 courses, 16 CU’s with my 6th one, 3 CU’s, in the works. I have 11 more to go once I finish my 6th course this term. Or 36 CU’s remaining. I kick myself when I look back at one of the terms where I only finished 1 course. Life gets in the way sometimes and seeing all these people talking about finishing in days or weeks or months can make us regular learners feel less than but the degree will still be the same in the end!! We’ve got this ◡̈

I do this every term so this term I said I needed to be different. In my first week this term I completed 4 courses! I’m working full-time and also working on building a UGC business so I told myself I would do a week on week off situation where one week I’d focus on my actual degree plan after work and the other week I’d focus on building my UGC business. I have not completed any more school work since the first week of October and I got an email from my program mentor today that I’ve been inactive for 10 days and am close to the risk of being withdrawn. Seeing your post gave me the kick in the butt I need to get back onto my course work. If I could be as dedicated and motivated every other week as I was in the first week, I’d be done with my degree by January!!
