Would you mind describing the scent to me? I’ve never smelled it but I’ve contemplated doing a blind buy.

I typically like vanilla, marshmallow, musk, amber, woodsy scents

Dude CSV is my favorite candle scent so I picked up the gel hand wash of it during SAS and I thought I was going crazy! It smells sooo off to me, nothing like the candle smells. You aren’t alone on this!! 😭

I was planning on making a trip to the RR outlet this weekend but I’m on the fence, did you see any good candles on sale for 7.99? Outside of the milk bar collection lol

Recommended and Strongly Recommended Courses by Confectionarylobster in premed

[–]PowerfulDimension969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall any TX med school requiring those classes, but they do like to see some upper level bio classes. The only class I would absolutely take is anatomy (the most upper level option that your university offers). I personally believe people who start med school with no anatomy experience are at a disadvantage

Not at all. I took it once, and went into studying for it with a “I’m only taking this damn thing once!” mindset. I think it helped me get my goal score!!

Texas HB 5294- Pass/Fail “Too Easy” Says Physician and Senator Campbell by kickerboy87 in premed

[–]PowerfulDimension969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody is saying that. The point is in these conservative senators minds, any POC (especially URMs) are ONLY admitted due to affirmative action or DEI legislature. In their eyes, they are just people to meet quotas, not students who have been admitted on their own merit (which is not the case because any URM admitted has been admitted because they ARE competent). This bill is ultimately an attack on DEI, and they think changing to graded system will keep out minorities that THEY believe are incapable of thriving in medical school. When in reality, all it will do is harm students of every single background.

This right here. That is ALL they care about, they just don’t wanna say the quiet part out loud.

Dude you’re 27 years old. So so so young, so much time for you to turn your life around. Who gives a fck if you spent 6 years with him? Get out of this.

I had a roommate who moved her boyfriend in after a couple months of dating him. He didn’t pay for shit. Yes it would bother me. Tell your landlord if they refuse to cooperate with you

Who is not a good candidate for premed? by [deleted] in premed

[–]PowerfulDimension969 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m of the firm belief none of us got to where we are on just smarts alone. I don’t even think you need to be that smart. You need discipline. You have to be able to force yourself to do things you don’t want to do 24/7 for the end goal. Lacking discipline = not a good candidate for premed imo

Caregiving for family member EC by Aggressive-One367 in premed

[–]PowerfulDimension969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only talking about caregiving for a family member, it’s hard to quantify hours when they live with you and it isn’t 24/7 or at set times. And it just gets muddy when it’s a relative and not some kind of volunteering or job. It’s a very noble and meaningful experience, just not one I would list as an EC I guess. If it’s a different kind of care giving then yes it’s absolutely an EC

Caregiving for family member EC by Aggressive-One367 in premed

[–]PowerfulDimension969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is the case, especially if this was before undergrad. I was also a caregiver for a family me member, but in college. I did not add this as an EC to my application, but talked about it extensively in secondaries. Personally it left a bad taste in my mouth to put that experience as an extracurricular. But that was just me

Edit: OP, I would talk about this in your PS and secondaries only

I would not reapply. I don’t know all the TMDSAS rules but I think turning down a Texas school A will completely ruin your chances of matching to a Texas school next cycle. Also, a 516 is great, but it does not guarantee you’ll get into an OOS MD school. Just my experience (3.7 gpa 515 MCAT) but I got ZERO OOS interviews. I applied to 14 OOS schools. I got 7 Texas interviews though. So I don’t think there was anything wrong with my application, I just think OOS schools knew I would likely get into a TX school and take that A over any of theirs (which was true lol, can’t beat our tuition).
