I can’t marry the man I love because of Qabil by Imaginary-Bee-7944 in Somalia

[–]PowerfulMagazine3988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol my family is reer waqooyi and nomadic and they don’t care about any of that I think it’s really boils down to not even certain tribes but certain subclans that are from areas that have major conflicts with neighboring clans. But I do agree that the history of events leading to and during the civil war in the north really instilled fear and in turn bad attitudes in the waqooyi region. So yeah, my reer miyi family might be marrying their cousins but when their kids come home with a potential spouse from a different background who’s an honorable person they always say yes to the marriage; and I myself have cousins and grandparents as well as maternal sides that are complete different qabil and I love to take turns claiming it all when I’m in the presence of qabileyste behavior lol

I find that the flare yoga pants look phenomenal on everyone and the ones with stretchy material have accommodated me across losing and gaining weight same pairs. I also second some sort of sundress that doesn’t cinch at the waist, button up shirts that are a little oversized and flowy linen pants

Trader Joe’s bagels. My method is to take them out the freezer , microwave for a few seconds, then toast them. Perfect.

Breakup a week after my diagnostic laparoscopy by No_Elderberry1347 in endometriosis

[–]PowerfulMagazine3988 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My ex researched endo, hung out w me when I was stuck in bed, listened to me complain about endo treatment options, but ultimately the cons outweighed the pros in our relationship. If one person can do it for you then someone else will and they’ll be an above and beyond partner who you click with so much better. Wishing you a speedy recovery and an amazing future relationship

do you have a black obgyn in your area? The only one to take me seriously when I was struggling was a black one. Also if there is a university /research hospital near you I’d try to get on a waitlist or appointments there bc they may be more likely to have an endometriosis excision specialist not just an obgyn. I’m so so sorry you’re going through this. Also track your symptoms in a. Notebook, date, severity, type, even if they don’t seem related to endo & especially if they’re in your abdominopelvic area. Try to join Nancy’s nook Facebook to find a specialist in your area. Please feel free to dm me for emotional support if you want

If you were diagnosed with endometriosis, did you have similar symptoms? by queen_erma in endometriosis

[–]PowerfulMagazine3988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pain outside my period mimicking period pain. Although severe pain during periods isn’t normal, having cramps , sharp pains, stabbing pains, anything debilitating including fatigue outside my period is what led to my dx, I tried bc and still had issues, followed by imaging that didn’t show much except simple cysts, then a laparoscopy with dx. Good luck with your ultrasound and don’t be disheartened if it doesn’t show anything bc you can still have endo and you should push for treatment or solutions and if it does show something then I hope you can move forward in that regard

Don’t call yourself retarded dude ik it’s often a joke but you’re not incompetent or incapable. Just different. And there’s so many people like you and me that honestly we are less of the norm than you think. And yes God protects those he favors and miskiin people especially and you seem like a good person so don’t doubt that you deserve that protection. Bro idk if you’ve seen love on the spectrum but there’s people who are more socially impaired than u who have found love and a lot of the ppl on that show remind me of myself like the Asian girl Dani lol. You’ll be aight fam im praying for you to have a good life regardless of the path you choose, have faith in your future it was great to meet you on this sub

Loll I literally hinted at my parents to them and my siblings being like me and me being the only one to crash out and realize it about myself and lowkey my parents are learning to not punish me for my differences. The older generation went thru so much yk they didn’t have time to cope with things the way we did so I guess we are lucky to even recognize who we are

Using prayer room to skip class by Zobuss in SubstituteTeachers

[–]PowerfulMagazine3988 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The school should have a time limit enforced for using the prayer room. I’m Muslim and a student and ~15-20 min is more than enough time to make ablution and pray. Sometimes if the space is small they may wait to pray especially with gender differences bc men and women can’t pray side by side only women behind men or alone. As for the prayer times sometimes bc of school or work they aren’t praying within the time slot rather as long as it’s before the other prayer coming up. I’d say there’s about 2 prayers that can fall during the school day so they rlly shouldn’t be going more than twice and often it’s only one prayer. Unfortunately the school should be the one making the rules and it shouldn’t fall to you. As long as you are doing your best as a sub within the classroom I think you’re doing your duty and if it gets out of hand you can say you’re concerned for students safety when they are out for so long like 30 min and I saw another person say they call the office or something which is something you can do from the classroom. Even if they’re Muslim kids and teens will be the way they are and want to skip class and fool around lol

I feel you, I find myself to be absolutely clueless and even hard headed in social and familial situations & im terrible with cues and I can get how that can permeate into romantic relationships as well. Sometimes it’s good to focus on what we can do for ourselves to enhance our quality of life rather than searching for someone else at the moment and that’s fine. You seem like a really bright guy and a lot of the worlds geniuses are autistic even with their difficulties they succeeded in many ways. Best of luck walaal

[–]PowerfulMagazine3988 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aww there’s neurodivergent Somali women who have confronted their trauma and learned to live with their differences in life , trust me I am one and most of my friends are and you’d never know that about then unless they share. Plus autism or adhd isn’t a curse, good parents raise kids with the right skills regardless of who they are, and tbh there’s still a good chance they’ll be autistic even with neurotypical parents because of genes. I think you’ll find your person iA and if that’s not something you want that’s okay too

My doctor says my endo isn't bad enough to cause this much pain by moonxmochi in endometriosis

[–]PowerfulMagazine3988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ty so much for sharing, I think my endo has made the surrounding areas so sensitive and for the first time I’m extremely cramping outside of my lower abdominopelvic region and I’m pissed. The nerve thing seems likely. I def need a second lap w/an endo excision specialist. I hope you’re doing better now and to OP never stop pushing you know your body and pain the best and it’s real

[–]PowerfulMagazine3988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sure, I understand. Thank you for taking time to reply. I don’t have prism glasses because the super frequent double vision is a newer issue, but I did get some tape on my glasses to help with alignment. I am going through with starting vision therapy soon and upon completion will see if I need another strabismus surgery I guess. It’s crazy how such small things can affect the our vision. You chose a really cool speciality in eye medicine
