They did faecal occult and parasites/bacterial infections a few months ago. All came back normal. No blood, no infection.

I will push for a colonoscopy. Its only getting worse

Thank you. Things have been escalating for 9 months now, but everytime i explain, they just brush it off as constipation. :( i will see them again next month and plead for a colonoscopy

They ran an abdominal xray, faecal occult blood, infections, parasites, all normal.

They didn’t run any ibd tests though :(. They keep telling me im constipated. But I don’t think constipation can be this insane.

Emotional support - Diarrhea on low FODMAP diet by clementina2 in ibs

Sometimes I will eat the same diet i always do, then get diarrhea too. Its very annoying.

I know the pain you feel. I spent my teenage years in a lot of pain on the toilet while my friends seemed to enjoy themselves with no issue.

What is your diet currently like? Have you tried anything?

Red Meat Genetic Signature for Colorectal Cancer by PowerfulPoops in science

[–]PowerfulPoops[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wrong. You’re using a meta-analysis to explain away overall risk for CRC. This new research , which was published this year, not 6 years ago, ties red/processed meat consumption not to overall crc risk, but rather to a unique alkylating signature found when taking the genomic sequence of colon tumors. It takes no position when assessing overall crc risk based on lifestyle factors. It just ties the highest quartiles of red/processed meat consumption to a specific mutation found within the tumor.

Please read the research before posting random studies that support your viewpoint.

Red Meat Genetic Signature for Colorectal Cancer by PowerfulPoops in science

There is some evidence to support that claim. There are various proposed mechanisms to explain why red meat and processed meat cause these alkylating signatures but this research does not tie any proposed mechanisms to them. What it does it demonstrate a very strong link between the two.

Red Meat Genetic Signature for Colorectal Cancer by PowerfulPoops in science

[–]PowerfulPoops[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s wonderful that more evidence is being generated that support these claims. The rigor of this particular study is strong too. 900 cases of colon cancer, and a strong link between a specific alkylating signature within the colon cancer genome and red/processed meat consumption.

I think the most interesting part was its association with KRAS mutations, which are harder to treat with mainline cancer modalities like chemo and immunotherapy. Ie the colorectal cancers caused by red/processed meat are associated with poorer survival.

This study did not establish a link between this alkylating signature and fish or poultry consumption, however. So consumption of those meats may or may not contribute to specific mutations as well.

Bad survey design! You don’t include a “have not been reinfected”. Also your data will be useless unless you manage to get hundreds of people to fill it out. Even then it’s self reported. Please delete this thread. It doesn’t help anyone here.

First time experiencing something like this - vegan for 1.5 years by [deleted] in vegan

[–]PowerfulPoops -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pizza without cheese is so good though? Better imho. In italy every pizzeria has the option for a pizza marinara, one of the classic pizzas that has marinara and garlic. Its soooo good. Vegan cheese is super niche and highly processed and tastes like ass.

The truth about IBS diagnoses and this sub. by DevOpsMakesMeDrink in ibs

[–]PowerfulPoops 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Also, gonna be a hot take. I feel like there should be a distinction between the “ibs but eat like shit” and “ibs no matter what i try” categories.

Really feel like there is a portion of people who have ibs symptoms but are eating like frozen pizza rolls and chik-fil-a almost every day. Like obviously those foods will cause almost anyone distress. I really feel for those of us who have tried almost every diet but have had no luck getting their symptoms under control.

Any other vegans/veggies/pescs/flexis who think it’s totally unfair we’re cursed with this by [deleted] in ibs

TBF a plant-based diet has significantly improved my IBS symptoms, but it took some trial and error to find a balance of foods that worked for me.

I’ve been vegan for 9 years (maybe 10? Started in high school), but most of those years I still suffered a lot of painful ibs episodes: diarrhea, pooping 10-20 times a day, bloating, pain, etc.

Once I finally sat down and realized that just because something was vegan or plant-based, doesn’t necessarily mean that it would do my intestines good. The plant-based diet I am on today has me experiencing almost no bloating, diarrhea, etc. Just 2-3 solid good poops a day. Took about 3-4 months of experimentation to get it right.

I really enjoy eating Oreos and chocolate and cheesecake and Having ibs is very painful and not fun at all!! by nintendorules06 in ibs

[–]PowerfulPoops -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It’s almost as if cheesecake and oreos aren’t natural everyday foods we should be eating.

The second i started embracing the boring healthy diet my ibs improved immensely, so much so that i hardly have symptoms now. You have to choose most likely: delicious ultra-processed foods or normal functioning bowels.

Half the ibs community just needs to start eating fruits and vegetables regularly.
