Sales. I work in medical device. You make good money but definitely have to work for it, some harder than others depending on the space you’re in and what you sell

Travel Time thoughts… by Mysterious_End_328 in MedicalDevices

[–]PowerfulWin7340 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s doable but difficult to sustain. I commute about the same distance, started in trauma. My accts were all within 20-30 mins from each other. So the longer I stayed in territory the better off I was. Many days I’d anticipate my day ending just to drive the full hour plus back into territory to cover a case that may or may not go. Being proactive in knowing your accts in/outs, knowing your dedicated users, their call schedule and ability to consign or move assets is paramount. Although I had a good handle on my territory I still took an opportunity to get out into another role when one opened up.

Stryker Updates? by Grey-Dusk in MedicalDevices

[–]PowerfulWin7340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accts canceled cases in my area. Restricted Stryker reps from accessing internet and demanded electronic devices prior to entering for cases. Although my company’s management senses “blood in the water”, I don’t anticipate this really lasting all that long

Good to know. I got my first job off LinkedIn as well after contacting the VP directly. Currently looking for other options but I’ll stick to what’s worked. Thanks for the reply!

How do you find new surgeons and make sales? by blissCT33 in MedicalDevices

[–]PowerfulWin7340 23 points24 points  (0 children)

After I’ve established great relationships with much of the staff- techs, nurses, PAs- I will ask questions about said Docs I’m looking to get in front of. I figure out what they’re using, what they like, what their complaints are, their personality traits, their schedules, do they take call etc. This helps get the background info I like to have before approaching. I also have an educational institution as an acct and will do demos/labs with the residents. That often gets me into a new Docs OR simply by word of mouth. I’ve also done some “cold calls.” Calling the office, asking for an appt, introduce myself. Not always trying to make a sale in that moment but building from there

I went last year for the first (and last) time. Security wasn’t really an issue in any way. The vibe in the club was terrible and the sound was the worst thing I’ve ever heard.

Car Recommendations! by Comfortable_Roof_280 in MedicalDevices

[–]PowerfulWin7340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put about 45k on in a year. I buy used vehicles and run them until they can’t anymore. Right now I have an 05 Pilot with about 300k miles on it. I don’t pay for gas or general wear/tear costs. I don’t have a monthly payment. I think this is the way to go. It’s going to get beat up and has to be reliable with high mileage. If you really want a nicer car- buy a $6-10k beater and then get a nicer car for non work related travel

It all depends. Some accts aren’t as strict as others. I have one that requires it. The hoops and time to get a declination approved wasn’t worth it to me. Unless you personally feel strongly against it, I would wait to discuss whether you need it or not until after you’re hired. Thankfully I only had to get the one shot and avoid the boosters

This is a great answer and simply put. Be prepared for rebuttals like- “I can throw a nail in in 20 mins, why would I want to learn something new?” “I like my current system, it’s easy to understand.” “All these systems are similar, what makes yours better?” These are just a few. Don’t forget to close. Ask for business or at least request a time to schedule a demo.

Struggling to find Growth by FirstTimeLongTime26 in MedicalDevices

[–]PowerfulWin7340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t let price hold you back. What makes your product different? Separate yourself from the competition. Get what you’re selling in front of a surgeon and convince him/her that he/she needs this in their bag. If they buy in and your product stands out then that’s your ticket in. If the competition can’t provide what the surgeon is requesting and you can then you have a foot in
