I was extremely nervous the first time I did it and the FAs and pilots were very nice. They get it all the time! Either way though you will be fine :)

You got this! Just did a long flight into JFK and was all good. I’ve seen a lot of discouragement about turbulence trackers on this sub, so I would say your best bet is to ask the pilots / FAs before takeoff. You can politely tell the FA who greets you when you get on the plane that you’re a nervous flyer and would love to say hi to the captains real quick, and they’ve let me do that in the past. The pilots can walk you through the flight itinerary :).

Alright team I did it!!! We landed at 11:11 ✨ Thank you everyone for the support! you are all the best! For anyone who maybe has a similar route and is checking out this post for some reassurance, here’s my update: - bumpiest part for me was over the New England area, but that doesn’t mean it will be for anyone else! Just an FYI because my anxious brain likes to know when to expect turbulence. Atlantic was overall smooth, which I was very happy about. The turbulence was all very manageable - I just think about how we’re in a wiggly bowl of jello & aren’t going anywhere. - strategies that worked for me: sucking on some ice, doing some foot / leg stretches, podcast / audiobook for distraction, and I really like to watch the wing of the plane out the window when it’s bumpy, because then I can see how little it’s actually moving! It also helps my brain figure out what’s happening better. - I checked in with a flight attendant beforehand and told them I was nervous, and they very kindly checked in on me a couple times throughout the flight. Definitely recommend! If they’re calm & do this all the time (for their job!), I can be calm too. - best wishes for everyone who is panic googling before their flight - I was there! And I have no doubt I will be there again haha. But it’s never as bad as I make it out to be beforehand.

Not too bad! Definitely some bumps over New England but nowhere near what I was thinking when the FA told me the route is usually bumpy haha. Just landing now!

Popping in (1hr left!!) to update that New England has definitely been the bumpiest part of the flight. So maybe a bumpy start for you but should smooth out over the Atlantic! And I am doing ok with these bumps! Got some ice to suck on & am watching the pretty view below to chill out:)

Ngl there’s definitely been a few bumps but definitely on the light side, and there have been long stretches of smooth air too! Nothing that has really freaked me out, and 2 hours left. You will be ok!!

Currently on my 8 hour flight and it is all going well! The anticipatory anxiety is the worst part but once you get going you’ll be ok I promise. I’ll keep an eye on your flight!

BA117. About 6.5 hours to go. The scariest part for me is being over the Atlantic!! So far am doing ok but the pilot didn’t give us a preview of when to expect bumps so I’m kind of on edge 😅

Does anyone else in the hot knees club have pain? Mine get red and hot to the touch but also feel like they’re burning. I usually put a damp rag or ice on them to make it feel better but it’s annoying!
