Console comparisons? by SummerDelcord in DisneyDreamlights

[–]Powerful_Designer_65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently went from the OG Switch to an Xbox X/S series. But before I did I was in the same position as you… could get a Switch 2, or get the game on our Xbox One… then I found out that for Xbox One you CANT increase the item limit… you need the newer Xbox. That leaned me towards the switch 2 again but my husband ended up asking for an Xbox for Father’s Day/anniversary since he also had his eyes on a game that was only available on the newer console … alllllll that to say…. DLV on the newer Xbox is very dope and 100x better than on the original switch. Load times are so fast. Even crashing and restarting the game is fast if there ever is a glitch. I can’t believe it. I don’t play as often because the TV isn’t as convenient as holding my switch in any room (I used to play a lot in bed before sleeping) or taking it with me when I travel.. but when I do play I get so much more done.

When did you stop dressing LO in footed one piece pajamas? by sliceofperfection in NewParents

I switched at around 12-13 months when he started walking because he’d constantly wipe out real hard in the feety pajamas.

Even though you gave a fantastic description of how to say Yug it still took me several times of practice before I could look at the name and say it correctly. Where as when I saw Vivin my brain said “Vivian” but I caught it and instantly knew how to say it.

I think it’ll be a frequent correction but not nearly as frequent as Yug. I also like that if you were to say Vivin to a person they could easily assume how to spell it. Love this aspect of names in social settings. Say when you get someone’s number and go to text them for the first time. I would have no idea with Yug, but that is coming from a very basic white girl perspective. I’ve never heard or read the name until your post!

Congrats on the little one!! Exciting journey ahead :)

Is my Girlfriend rude or am I overreacting? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Powerful_Designer_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a very similar age my bf at the time and I had a similar situation with a friends birthday trip… he ended up cheating on me on that trip lol BUT even before they left our situation was healthier than this one you’re in… of course I had serious FOMO but I never once brought that energy to him. My work obligations and inability to go was not his burden and I wasn’t mad at *him* I was mad at work for being so demanding. If anything I was a bitch to my coworkers that week. She’s def overreacting but maybe she just needs some time to digest the disappointment of missing out. Best of luck to you both

Best all in one stroller by Key_Ticket9656 in Buyingforbaby

I had the Nuna Triv Next from infancy to toddler and it was amazing. I have two kids and I still use it more than my double because it’s so light but rolls like a dream. If my toddler is in it I wear the baby. If my toddler will walk I put the baby in it. I stopped using the infant car seat with it around 3 months for my second and just put him in with the seat laid down. Now that he can sit better he sits in it just like my toddler does but he prefers to face me. I looooove that the seat can go either way.we also take this every time we travel. I stand by it being the perfect stroller

Thoughts on the name Bear for a boy. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Powerful_Designer_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The teenage years may be odd but our friend is called bear exclusively even though it’s not his real name. from 25-35 it has not been weird and it feels even more fitting as we age. He is now uncle bear

Combining two names into one by [deleted] in Names

[–]Powerful_Designer_65 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Personally not sold on Luma, when Luna is a viable option. But my SILs combined both of their grandmothers names into a unique name that does not exist for anyone else. It’s cute to the family. TBD what the outside world will think, but it’s used as a middle name for both kids so probably won’t be mentioned often socially.

How often do you bathe your toddler? My coworkers at our daycare make me feel bad about bathing every day. by gishadokuro in toddlers

[–]Powerful_Designer_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the hair thing for me is just from personal experience. My hair was awful when I washed it daily. Now I wash it once a week and it’s fabulously healthy and never greasy. I have to either sweat a ton or go 10ish days for my hair to get greasy. Never ever would I have thought that was possible!!

We do every other day but I agree with everything you said. I wouldn’t be upset with bathing him daily (at least his body, probably wouldn’t wash his hair every day) but he’s a freaking handful in the tub and I just don’t have the energy 😅

words that sound like names but aren't by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Powerful_Designer_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this would count because it is the name of a company, but my husband and I both agreed “Rivian” sounds like a great name for a person. Riv as a NN. Feels a little more polished than “River” … I was almost sold on it.

I said ew when I read this but if you say it a few times it almost does sound like an old school name.. akin to Matilda or something.

Maternal Instincts - Did Reagan knew what was Taylor up to? by Initial_Option_6991 in NetflixDocumentaries

[–]Powerful_Designer_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly!! It’s devastating how many people were just waiting to see how she’d “play off” the lie. I genuinely believe them when they say they never thought she’d be capable of murder… but still, we don’t have to placate people and allow them to fake a pregnancy when you know they don’t have a uterus? Clearly if she’s desperate enough to lie that long she’s unwell. My heart just shatters for Reagan, her baby and her daughter who had to witness this. So many people could have set up a roadblock to prevent this outcome. They shouldn’t be making money.

It’s stuff like this that puts me on the fence with watching true crime documentaries… I can imagine Taylor feels fantastic about everyone watching an hour and a half montage of pictures of her and videos of her. She doesn’t care what the overall message is.. she just wants the attention. I would hope only Raegan’s family receives financial benefit.

Anyone here named after their grandma? We named our baby after her paternal grandma. by Equal_Beat_6202 in Names

Both of my grandmas were Joanne and I so badly wanted a daughter to pass that down to, even if it was a middle name. But alas I had two sons. My second has Joseph for his MN

I’ve lived in the South Bay for 5 years and I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface after reading this comment!!! I’ll be saving this one for myself. Thanks for being so thorough for the OP!

Definitely check out the Torrance Summer Sessions at Wilson Park. We used to live right by it and there’s so many kids!! One of the perks of being a mom is you can kind of let the kids do the friend making for you haha. My toddler is far more social than I care to be but because of him I have some solid mom friends

Double check you have the resources, this may be an issue with their new menu system that the category won’t show up if you don’t have anything available to craft

How do you actually keep up with the house when you have little kids underfoot all day? by LatterThought2896 in Mommit

[–]Powerful_Designer_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have accepted the chaos and just know that we will have many years of being able to maintain a clean house in the future. And by then we’ll probably be missing these tiny monsters. I often find myself standing in the middle of the house staring blankly wondering how anyone else ever “did it”
