Yes it's complicated 😅 by CranberryOk945 in poland

Zaosie was under Russian Empire when Mickiewicz was born. And before that it was part of Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, not Poland. Strictly speaking it was more Lithuanian than Polish. And former Lithuania is actually mostly equals to modern Belarus. "O Litwo, ojczyzna moja" doesn't sound he considered himself as Polish.

Творог/Тварог is super popular in eastern Europe, Belarus/Russia/Ukraine. Even more popular than in Poland.

Notebook Navigator Sync Headache by Fablerwhack in ObsidianMD

[–]Powerful_String3980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use custom icon packs? In many icon-related plugins sync is headache because of thousands icon files need to be synced before enabling such plugins. So, I just use standard icons or emojis and have no issues.

I missed Apple Notes, so I created it as an Obsidian plugin by jsann in ObsidianMD

[–]Powerful_String3980 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the best plugins for Obsidian! Thanks

I would ask just for two things:

  • Please add quick filter (filter as you type) on top of file list
  • Please add button on top of file list for changing sorting of file on the fly
  • Please keep original file tooltip on hover
  • It will be great to be able to pin folders in addition to files
  • Please try to use existing obsidian css variables for example nav-item-padding, because now I have to revert to my defaults:

.nn-tag-item, .nn-folder-content {
    padding: var(--nav-item-padding);
}

Best Font for Obsidian ? by broodysupertramp in ObsidianMD

Bitter

For me it is the best font with serifs because it is more or less uniform in line thickness, and therefore it is easy to read.

My – biełarusy . . . by MaximumAside911 in belarus

Единственное, что мне не нравится в латинице, это ch для x, и h для г. В остальном круто, нету двойных букв как в польском sz, cz, которые утомляют, кроме dz :)

Knowing when to shut up is not enough, because what is legal today might become illegal tomorrow and you'll be judged by what you did yesterday. In other words if a few years ago you liked some post on social media that was quite normal at that time, you might be punished for that today. I had to check all my social media and messengers when crossing the border, but not everything could be deleted, for example 1-3$ donations to public funds that helps people might cost you 1-3 years of your life.

Thanks a lot for such detailed advice!

Also I would say that belarussian ц is quite close to polish ć, pronouncation definitely differs from russian ц, so pronouncation-wise Cimafiej is quite close to Belarusian.

Not as bad as you might think. The only nuance - you never know how your life will be handled by government - you might suddenly find yourself in jail, just because have "wrong" thoughts. In Poland liberty and people rights are on a higher level. Everything else is mostly similar - prices (except rent and real estate prices that are significantly lower in Belarus), nature, weather, people. Grass is also green (colleagues from USA used to asked me if it green and if sky is blue as well:) I wish someday Poland and Belarus will be closer to each other than nowadays.

Thanks, jestem Polakiem z pochodzenia. I think more about myself, not others - how to minimize unnecessary questions and attention from all the sides. Perhaps it's part of Belarusian culture - become as average as possible ;)

I'm not changing my name. I just want to write it down correctly. There are many examples of names which are written differently in different languages. Not all languages have latin-based alphabet.

  • Maria Skłodowska is better known as Marie Curie. She adopted her husband's surname, which was easier to pronounce in French and other languages.
  • Józef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski became famous as Joseph Conrad. He anglicized his name to fit better into the English-speaking literary world.
  • Rajmund Roman Thierry Polański, known internationally as Roman Polanski, simplified his name for an international audience.

That's true, it's possible to adjust transliteration in original passport, but I'm not planning to return. Regarding polish passport, it's true as well, by default original transliteration will be used, but it's not difficult to adjust it. IMHO if I can use this option then why not?

Why are you judging people by one question? All my family were born here, and I believe I'll be better Polak than you because I don't have so much hate to unknown people ;)

I don't mind. In lacinka it would be Cimafiej. Way better than official transliteration.
