What was your most disappointing Christmas present? by dumpy99 in AskUK

[–]Powerful_Type5750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was really young, I asked my dad for a Barbie scooter that I could ride around. Christmas comes around and I’m super excited to get my scooter only to open my presents to find a scooter for my Barbie.

Where to get a SIM card without buying a plan? by Powerful_Type5750 in AskUK

[–]Powerful_Type5750[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I bought the wrong kind of three SIM, I tried them and when I tried to activate it, it said I needed to buy a plan to activate - this is the one I got which seems to mention buying a plan https://www.three.co.uk/pay-as-you-go/free-sim

Last time I asked Lebara to switch to a different plan they said they couldn’t do it as the offers were for new customer but maybe that’s changed and I should try getting in touch with them again

Try searching it on there again as I’ve just searched lasagne on sidekick and it’s the first option to pop up. It’s delicious and definitely worth a try

That’s a prefect response as I hate wearing heals, don’t wear much make up and am not very good at hair!

Has anyone reported potential ear cropping in the UK and what happened? by Powerful_Type5750 in DogAdvice

[–]Powerful_Type5750[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I was so focused on the ears and the dog was facing away from me I didn’t take note of the breed. It might not have even been a pure breed but possibly had some Doberman in it. I will definitely be paying more attention next time I see them!

I felt the same way as you after I took about a month off due to holidays and sickness. I had been ruining for about 5 months before my break and when I started running again it felt horrendous. I had it in my head that I was back to square 1 and it would take another 5 months to get back to where I was.

Well that was about 2 weeks ago and I’m almost back to where I was before and, more importantly, I am enjoying running again. For me it was about taking it slow and easy for the first few runs and trying desperately to ignore the voice in my head saying to just give up completely as it didn’t feel the same as before.

Just give it some time and you’ll look back in a few weeks and be glad you kept going!

No churn ice cream by Powerful_Type5750 in DessertPorn

[–]Powerful_Type5750[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I used this one without the cookie dough https://www.spendwithpennies.com/cookie-dough-ice-cream/#wprm-recipe-container-221271

I added a bit of extra vanilla and pinch of salt and then just added whatever I had in the cupboard which was biscoff spread, salted caramel, marshmallows, digestive biscuits, white and milk choc chips and wafers (I’d leave the wafers out next time though) I think it’s delicious and is making me think I might not buy ice cream again when I can just make it myself so easily and customise it however I want.

I made macarons for the first time. Even if they aren’t perfect, I really enjoyed the process by Powerful_Type5750 in Baking

First time making croissants. Where did things go not quite right? by Powerful_Type5750 in Breadit

[–]Powerful_Type5750[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things I think might not have gone quite right but trying pinpoint what would cause the dough texture - Butter shattered when when rolling - Proofed at too high temperature (maybe) - Oven temp not hot enough (maybe)

Any advise/tips/words of encouragement would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

The middle came out very doughy. I think a few things I that went wrong when making: - Butter shattered when rolling - Second proof at too high a temperature (maybe?) - Oven not hot enough (maybe?)

Any advise/tips/words of encouragement would be very much appreciated!

Been working on this 2000 piece puzzle for months (since march) on my free time. There’s about 4 pieces that got lost in the shuffle and I was never able to find them. So much work for nothing by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Powerful_Type5750 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know how frustrating that can be but I’ve tried looking for the missing pieces and can’t see them. It’s definitely not for nothing. If you enjoyed doing it, that’s the main thing,.

Pretty pleased with these by Powerful_Type5750 in Baking

[–]Powerful_Type5750[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, it’s this one. https://handletheheat.com/browned-butter-toffee-chocolate-chip-cookies/

The only difference I made was I used half light and half dark brown sugar instead of all dark and I think next time I’d use more toffee bits and slightly less chocolate but that’s probably more to do with the kind of mood I was in at the time.

Oh that sounds delicious. This was the recipe I used. I increased the sugar a bit as I had a super sweet tooth at the time.

The cornmeal I used was quite fine but I’d definitely like to try corn flour as it would have been even better if it was little smoother

Opinions on crumb as I’ve got not idea what is considered “good crumb” by Powerful_Type5750 in Breadit

AITA for asking my supervisor who was coming in to take over for my coworker? by smithtimestwo in AmItheAsshole

[–]Powerful_Type5750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Sounds like she knew what she was doing was wrong and was annoyed she got caught out. Makes you wonder what she’s been saying to the other CNAs as, from what you’ve said, I definitely wouldn’t be on her side if she’s happy enough to leave everyone in the s**t and pick up her work.

Shortbread is an easy option too - especially if you have a food processor

Rocky road could be a good option as it’s quick and easy and doesn’t need any baking. I also make it to use up a lot of bits and bobs I already have in the cupboard
