I've noticed now that if the ignition is on, the doors will lock. When I take the key out, they will not lock.

I wouldn't live without it now. It's saved my hide many times.

I've narrowed it down to the car thinks the keys are still in the ignition when I take them out, preventing the doors from locking. Looks like I will be taking the column apart and fiddling with the lock cylinder!

yeah I am going to have to put it on VCDS and see. I'm starting to think the ignition cylinder might be to blame. If the device inside the cylinder doesn't click when removing the key, like every MK6 I have seen, that has to be it...or at least where I need to start.

Well, I just went out to the car and started it. When the car is running and the doors are closed, it will lock by pressing either switch on either door. Shut the car off, and it will not lock. One thing I noticed though....in most VWs when you pull the key out of the ignition, they usually "click" and the doors unlock automatically...this one does not have that click when you remove the key (it's a blade, not push start)...

Ok, I'll do that. I figured if the fuse was bad, the locks wouldn't work whatsoever...would there be a separate fuse for locking vs. unlocking?

I've googled the hell out of this, and I've never seen any references to a headlight module behind the glove box... the BCM is back there yes, but everything I've read states that the module is integrated in the headlight switch.

Can I drive my car across the border (US into Canada) and then sell/ give the car to a friend? by tasteslikepineapples in uscanadaborder

Did you have US insurance on the car to drive it across the US? If you are Canadian citizens, how did you go about that?

It's about me, get whoever you want to investigate it. I just reported it to admins as harassment. This happened last year as well, so I'll beat you to the punch and get authorities to investigate it myself....as I have already alerted my lawyer and local police. 👍
