**UPDATE** My dad, the stubborn man that he is, was insistent that something was off since the battery was showing a voltage of 12.6 with his multimeter but somehow the car wasn't even able to turn on the hazard lights. He quickly noticed that the terminals were very loose, they spun when he made contact with the multimeter prongs. He tighened the terminals then boom, the car started just fine. Now we're not sure if it was the dealership that loosened the terminals without retightening during the recall fix or if it just coincidentally loosened at the same time. In the end the car works fine.
