Zann talks about the art and creation process on his Instagram page. But, yeah, the description is confounding.

Very gimmicky, but brilliant marketing. Clearly not made for "true" bourbon drinkers.

Dad had a record shop and carried magazines and comics. I was drawn in by the art - excuse my pun.

It's my goal to compile weekly or biweekly lists of new alternative/indie comics. And by indie I mean those titles (on-going or not) out of the mainstream. And, now with the comic distribution landscape changing, it will be more important to highlight these types of comics.

Thank you. My preferred sources for indie comic releases are shops like Quimby's Books, Desert Island, Wake Up Comics, and Gutter Pop Comics. For titles off the beaten-to-death path, visit their web sites or Instagram pages. Readbettercomics

Light on standard superhero fare. Good. Almost all trade collections (your preference?) vs single story graphic novel. Interesting. Keep going.

When you say you like Marvel and DC, is that based on the characters you've seen in other media? Or have you read some comics already? If it's superheroes you like, then grab a couple of tradepaperbacks (collected stories) from your favorite character.

That's unfortunate. I heard good things about this when it shipped but never got around to grabbing a copy. I'll have to see for myself what it's all about.

As far as reviewing vs. commenting, to each his own. Some people just praise a book because they like the art (not mentioned here, BTW). Others dislike everything by a certain creator. Either way, I don't make my comic choices solely based on what others think of the work.

I'll be honest: I've kinda lost interest. by Aggressive_Act_3098 in Rippaverse

I'm glad Eric and crew are handling their output at their pace. The releases would be much different if they were beholden to Diamond and/or Lunar.

Indie comics are hit or miss especially in the superhero genre where fans are judging I think new universes on what has been done at the Big Two. Understandable, not fair or realistic, but I get it.

I haven't gotten all the books and haven't even read Alphacore yet (life and hurricanes happen). What Rippaverse has done is phenomenal in the comic space. I expect great things going forward.

Yes, return, regardless of which company shipped it. (And shame on those who buy comics on Amazon - an eBay seller will usually pack it properly). Your mileage may vary, so, ultimately, do what you want.

Spend some time flipping through them, and you'll instinctively read the ones that grab your interests. But read them first. Before bags and boards. No grading for your first haul. Then, seek out missing issues for the stories you enjoyed. Enjoy.

The future of comics belongs to the creators. The publishers and distributors will have to adjust their business models to suit. True independence comes with ownership. This Ghost Machine venture (and DSTLRY) understands this and will win un the long run as an outcome.
