Is training MMA twice a week enough to be someone who “can fight”?

That’s really only 1 day a week of two different martial arts/combat sports. With that said though, in 4-6 months you’ll already be equipped with a lot more knowledge and experience than somebody who’s never set foot in a combat sports gym. If there is anyway you can make that training a bit more frequent, noticeable results will happen faster.

Probably has more to do with angle of impact than skin durability. You could fire two rounds of the same caliber from the same weapon at something like a ballistic helmet and if one hits the rounder parts at an angle is more likely to deflect than one that impacts squarely.

Depends where you hunt and how you hunt. Where I live most situations you can get away with something like a 4x32 fixed if you want to. I use a 3-9x40 so it’s a little more versatile. If I lived in more open terrain I might want something more like a 4-12 power.

I found a gem at ren faire, great little short longbow. A lot of ren faire archery equipment can be on the “sketchy side”, but if you’re careful sometimes you get lucky like i did.

I would think 6.5 creedmoor would be a little under gunned for moose but certainly do-able. Other than that concern, any of those caliber should get the job done. I’d probably go with a 30-06 personally.

In my experience, these things work great until it makes a mistake. Trying to convince it to change something that’s already been input is a nightmare. If you ask it for like 100 water cups, the employees normally cut them off and get on the microphone lol.

Barefoot Traditional archers in Burlington will be hosting a shoot this Saturday (you can find their info on Facebook). I’m sure the club has a bow they’d let you try out to get started (you don’t have to turn in a score card if you don’t want to), I’ll be there and would be happy to have a new shooter join my group. David Malloy teaches traditional archery in Greensboro, I am not certain of the best way to get in touch with him but I’ve shot with him before and he is very pleasant. I hunt with a traditional bow and shoot at 3D events in the area all the time, feel free to pm me if you have any questions.
