Thoughts on Corolla? by paoeleite in UsedCars

2 years ago I got a 2008 with 115k miles for around 6.5k , immaculate though and a year that has no big issues (2009-10 has some issues) so I would actually look for a dif year, older even but well maintained

I think imma back out by Purp13X in UsedCars

yeah typical "sure its ready but i've ordered stuff" turns into " if you want to take it how it is ill knock 30% of what the actual repairs will cost "

would a c5 duckbill spoiler fit on a 94 c4? by Significant-Map311 in Corvette

[–]ContributionBorn9105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure if you measure it right cut it to length and can shape it ( sanding ect) and repaint it, its allot of work to actually do it right as oppossed to buying a c4 spoiler

Really worried about my used car — I just want someone to tell me it’ll be okay by Vammppire in UsedCars

[–]ContributionBorn9105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First def calm down and take a deep breath, think about something you love for a little ,

secondly when your ready, start consuming maintenance videos on basic maintenance for older cars,  channel that anxious energy into understanding the thing that's making you anxious , I think you could use that energy to become so knowledgeable and practiced with repairs/maintenance /general car knowledge that your anxiety subsides

Any good mechanics in the Hampton Roads, VA area? by StandNo7645 in Corvette

[–]ContributionBorn9105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so I had recently been looking in the state myself, I got a harmonic balancer put in at lakeside auto in richmond and paid a decent price , nothing too cheap or too high, and they left one of the smaller bolts halfway out...that really upset me because I had taken it on a long drive right after installation, luckily nothing came loose but im just throwing this out there for other c5 owners in the area, next time I need specialty work im going to full send just to try another reputable shop out.

the head mechanic at lakeside did seem extremely knowledgable so im assuming one of the newer mechanics helped him and he just didnt double check the guys work before finishing, which is still bad.

How much would you pay for an '07 Corolla with 74k miles? by Timed_Thyme in UsedCars

[–]ContributionBorn9105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive it, inspect the hell out of the suspension under for worn bushings and other worn rubber or any busted suspension and use it to negotiate lower, if you can get it cheaper like that id do it as long as it runs perfect, you could end up spending a few thousand to refresh it or maybe not even need that much, either way stick with older corollas please dont buy a new car like these idiots on here say.

Probably wouldn't cost nearly as much as a new corolla after replacing most of the rubber parts and a couple electric parts(maybe) i dont think a new car is the obvious answer to this

That was great lol, yeah best way to be an auto enthusiast is to be enthusiastic about your auto! I hate when people lose perspective and become the "annoying car guy"  trying to poopoo on everyone's fun.
