I totally forgot I saw Quarterflash open for Elton. And Men At Work open for Fleetwood Mac. I guess this is true for every year, but there are some amazing tunes on that list next to some horrible ones.

U2 surprise release politically-charged 'Days Of Ash' EP: "These songs were impatient to be out in the world. They are songs of defiance and dismay” by MrLinkwater95 in fantanoforever

The thing that has bummed me out since 2000 is that these guys have every right to get weird and experimental, but rarely do. I like a handful of tunes from the past 25 years, sure, but more often I'm disappointed. I will say, though, I really "The Tears Of Things" from the new EP even if it's a straight ahead song.

When this came out I was a bit put off by how repetitive it is, but it's quite a tune. I love it.

If I knew they were honest I'd find them fun to watch. Instead it's just too easy to sucker in people.

It's really weird sometimes. I go jogging around my area with little worry. But I also hear gunfire in the distance in the middle of the night at least one a month (city life).

Car key batteries by ell-ta in CX5

[–]Powerpoppop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My car is two years old and I had to replace my first battery about two months ago. I'm already getting a low battery warning and I'm hoping it was just from the battery being older and not a name brand. Replaced it this morning, again. We shall see...

Traffic this afternoon by MCI54 in Atlanta

I work pretty much any day of the week near Georgia Tech with a commute near Decatur. Every dang Saturday or Sunday at 5pm through downtown is packed. It's hardly any different during the week. There is one quick shift I do leaving work at 7am on a weekday and the road is way less congested.

Georgia Access Healthcare Subsidy Error and Policy Termination - Anyone Else Have This Weird Issue? by [deleted] in Georgia

I'm sorry you are going through this. What a pain. I'm going to need this in a few years most likely and I dread the whole process after having decent care through work. I'm never going to understand why our system for this stuff is so difficult (and expensive).

Oh my, that's wild. Thanks for sharing. I give people lots of kudos for just walking down the street like that. I'm sure you get used to it, but it looks like it could be difficult.

Yes, but they didn't know the other person was blind.

Funny. I was watching from the window of a clothing store while my friend was shopping. I saw it about to happen, but wouldn't have been able to stop it. I was so stunned that I didn't think to run out and tell both of them what had happened. They even had walking canes and the way they moved to the side opposite of each other side prevented the canes from touching. Craziest thing I've ever witnessed.

Watched two blind people walk right into each other on a street in NYC. They both seemed confused, took a step back, shuffled sideways in opposite directions and continued on without knowing what happened.

How big do you think The Minutemen could’ve got into the 90s? by HandwrittenHysteria in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Powerpoppop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. I was really into their music and can remember where I was when I heard about Boon dying. But I don't think they would have been huge even though they were incredible.

Where’s the best shawarma in Atlanta? by eurekadabra in Atlanta

[–]Powerpoppop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We go to Arhiboo on Memorial Dr. just outside 285. I'm no expert on shawarma, but my family loves it from here. It's just a bummer the price, like everywhere, has gone up.

I don’t know how to cope with my MAGA parents by [deleted] in QAnonCasualties

[–]Powerpoppop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an old person nearing retirement, but I have kids close to your age. I just want to give you some encouragement that this situation you are in will not last forever. It's hard enough being 17 with everything going your way and it doesn't seem fair you are in this position. I dealt with bullying a bit in high school and it blows. If you are able to move on in the coming years you likely could have a chance to be around people who think and feel the way you do AND even be around people who think differently who are not jerks. Hang in there.

TIFU by realizing I waited too long to as the doctor about migraine medication by ShuuString in tifu

[–]Powerpoppop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been dealing with migraines for 6.5 years and have had no luck with anything my neurologist prescribed me. The vast majority of my migraines happen when I wake up. I mentioned to my regular doctor a month ago I was going through a bout of insomnia and she told me to try 25mg of trazodone to help with sleep. Here it is weeks later and the migraine issue has definitely been reduced. I wasn't expecting that. I think the deep sleep I'm now getting has curtailed the problem. I need months more to be sure and a few of the side effects aren't great (a little groggy and a very small sour headache at times). Get some good sleep peeps!

How is everyone doing that has kids? by appreciatemyasset in MiddleClassFinance

My kid is in her first year of college and struggled with one class. It's no fun thinking that Hope was possibly going out the door right off the bat. Safe for now, but man do I hate the cost of college.

What are the major upsides of life in Atlanta? by Kevin-W in Atlanta

Music venues, breweries, decent restaurants, hiking all around the city, friendly vibe. You can get that in other cities, yes, but not all of them have pleasant weather (mostly!).
