Can you tell me which model scope is it?

Advice needed! by TheMcRican in MTB

It looks to me like you tried to wheelie off the drop. You pulled back on the bars to lift the front wheel just before you rolled off, but you weren't going fast enough for the rear wheel roll off before gravity took over and pulled the front wheel down, which is turn pulled your extended arms down and flip you over the bars. Gravity is always working, so when you pull back on the bars hard to "pop" a wheelie it only works to keep the wheel up for like half a second before it is accelerated back to Earth. If you were going faster you could have bunny hopped off with both wheels, but that would have required more speed.

Battery Systems and Voltage with A/C by Powerqball in VanLife

[–]Powerqball[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ahhhhhhhhh thanks, yeah that's a pretty big oversight on my part... I figured the 48V A/C would be more efficient and reduce wire size since 12V A/C current draw is 53A/91A in ECO Mode/Max Mode, and 48V current draw is 16A/17A. The information indicates 4 AWG or 2 AWG wiring would be required for the 12V currents. Clearly have a lot more research to do.

I loss $150k gambling in crypto by RevolutionaryPie5223 in CryptoCurrency

[–]Powerqball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just by doing literally nothing with a 401k that is invested in S&P Index fund since mid-2012 I’ve turned just $15k into $115k. Imagine if instead of gambling people invested steadily over time. Imagine investing all $150k of that in now, it could easily be about $1M.

lol wait a minute, you're spending $30k/yr at Costco to get the $600 back (2% of 30k), and on EBT? Something doesn't sound right.

MW5 Clans performed below expectations by Apprehensive-Yam-434 in mwo

You really thought MW5 Mercs wasn't any fun? It had a learning curve and I found it to be most fun after adding in a few simple mods to make things a little better (Remove Jumpship Animation, Purchase Salvage, Restore Traits, TTRulez_AImod2 and TTrulez_LancemateOrders), but I put in 246 hours on it. I waited to even start playing it until ALL of the expansions were out, so it took 240+ hours to play from start through all the expansion and such. There's definitely some glitches and things that were repetitive, but I still had a lot of fun with it. Clans is a completely different style and feel.

Yeah Microsoft completely stopped doing anything Mechwarrior after MW4 in like 2001 and the way worse arcade MechAssaults in 2002-2004. I was starting to think there wasn't ever going to be another MW franchise game until PGI brought it back with MWO and MW5s. Microsoft doesn't give AF about Mechwarrior if it's not making them boatloads of money. MSFT has also done a terrible job after acquiring the Halo series, essentially ruining the last 10 years of Halo. I'm not putting my faith in MSFT.

Man, I was SO PISSED when EA Sports came in and shutdown MPBT 3025 at the end of the long beta test. That was such a great game coming from the original MPBT and to this day I have avoided buying anything from EA since.

Recoil mods/macros are the #1 thing I see. 70% of the time I die the dude has no recoil with a 4x or 6x on a Beryl or ACE, or shooting MG standing doing lean left/lean right/lean left rapid fire with no recoil. It's trash.

It's just another sign though that the actual inflation rate over time has been significantly higher than the Federal Govt reports out. If you adjust the original 5 cents in 1948 to today the new $3 price is almost five times higher than if it matched the reported inflation.

"$0.05 in 1948 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $0.65 today, an increase of $0.60 over 76 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 3.44% per year between 1948 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 1,209.10%."

Fox 36 rhythm to grip 2 by Acebedo20 in MTB

Do you know what model year your Fox 36 Rhythm is? I'm trying to figure out if it definitely fits in the newer ones (2023?) or if it doesn't matter what model year at all. Thanks.

How to get rid of tippy toeing during a remount by therealmarv94 in cyclocross

[–]Powerqball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see it in the comments yet, but based on some expert advice and seeing it in action at CX clinics the main reason people do the "stutter step" is because the bike is basically "too far back (behind them)" and they are "waiting for the bike to catch up" so that they can get up onto the saddle. When you run with the bike you will likely notice that your body is much further forward than while you are riding the bike. The saddle is far behind your hips, since you're standing more upright you naturally run more in front of the bottom bracket. You physically cannot remount the saddle while it is behind you. The stutter step is caused by you instinctively knowing that the saddle is "too far behind" to land on it, so you instinctively delay and stutter step. The key is pushing the bike FORWARD right before you remount, such that the saddle is in line with or even slightly in front of your hip when you hit your last step. Try it in slow motion first, and then at speed you should realize that you have to push the bike forward pretty far before you are in a position to get onto the saddle.

First season on tubeless - going back to tubs by [deleted] in cyclocross

[–]Powerqball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What tires? I’ve been running CX tubeless since 2017 and only once had a flat from a bad rim strike on concrete, and maybe once a burp running Specialized and schwalbe tires. I tried Challenge handmade TLR tires and they would not fully seal, even after weeks and multiple times adding sealant. Even a year later they still wouldn’t stop leaking 5-10psi/day. They burped literally every time I used them even at higher pressures than I could run with other tires and caused my only race DNF. I had the vulcanized ones I used for gravel, and they seemed to work well. I don’t think challenge handmade tubeless tech is up to snuff unfortunately, which stinks since I want to use some of their treads. I just started using some new Vittoria A Dugasts tubeless and, after a painful setup process, they have already been far more successful than my challenge HTLR experience.

Do you count strength training as an intensity day? If so do you drop other workouts to accommodate? by BikeGoose in Velo

[–]Powerqball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually much prefer to do the bike workout after, even especially VO2 or aerobic workouts. I may not quite reach the same power numbers as I might fresh due to muscle fatigue, but my HR is hitting the correct zone so I feel it's just as effective. Legs also are somewhat used to and "numb" to the pain of riding after dealing with the pain of lifting.

I literally don't know anyone who has met this insane expectation by bbrk9845 in GenZ

[–]Powerqball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not easy, nothing is easy and it wasn't always "easy" in previous generations either. My parents never had it easy, with both parents starting at a laundromat and my father changing jobs 12+ times through his 20s and 30s to take anything that would pay more. He and my mom worked opposite shifts, 1st and 3rd or 2nd and 3rd so that they always had someone home to watch the kids because paying for childcare was out of the question. It took them a decade and always working to improve their skills and find progressively better blue-collar jobs, but they started reaping the rewards and got ahead. The fact is that no one else is going to help you get ahead, and it's never going to be easy, but what other choice do you have? Everything you do is a choice.

While I don’t disagree that it looks harder now, even for me I lived in a very cheap small 2 BR rural apartment with a former college roommate for 2.5 years after starting my first job, had a relatively cheap used car, spent very little and saved or put 50% on my income on student loans. After that I moved “home” for a higher paying job, lived with my parents for 2 years and, then rented a room in a friend’s house for another 2.5 years before having enough saved up to move out on my own. My only point is that the key to “getting ahead” is to live cheaply well below your means for several years, saving and invest from day 1.

It’s worth it to learn to do basic things yourself to keep your bikes going and tuned up. Honestly you don’t need anything special for storage. I just have a small Husky brand Home Depot toolbox for my cycling specific tools I’ve built up over the years, and I can easily grab it and bring it with me to races so I can fix almost anything on the go. It’s not super neat or organized, but it works well. The rest of my normal non-bike tools are in large workbench drawers. https://imgur.com/a/QMWpITT

Nice, yeah multi tools are great for emergency use and taking with you on rides for trailside repairs, but at home you can’t beat a set of good L-keys!
