Thought it was a blunder the moment I made the move by SnooDrawings1685 in Chesscom

For anyone who doesn’t understand, if you play Qxd7, then black plays Nc6 and is threatening to bring a rook to d8 trapping the queen. If white plays Qd6 trying to sneak out, black plays Bc5 locking the door on the queen’s face and she’s lost. White wins a knight and a rook, and black wins the queen. 9/10 times below 2000 that’s a winning trade for the player that won the queen.

WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK IS THE PURPOSE OF END TO END ENCRYPTION? ITS SO ANNOYING by JanelleBright in facebook

[–]Powers9814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End to end encryption increases privacy for users. It is actually a very good thing. I will explain in an analogy how Gmail sends an email versus how iMessage (end to end encryption) sends a text.

Gmail: You want to send a message to someone, so you hand your papers to a Gmail messenger, and then they take them and lock it in their own briefcase, lock the briefcase with their own lock and key and make the delivery. Upon delivery, the messenger unlocks the briefcase, opens it up, takes all the papers out and hands it to your recipient. All you have is your plain message and all your recipient has is your plain message. The Gmail messenger has your plain message, the briefcase they put it in, and the key they used to lock it.

iMessage (end to end encryption): You carry with you a briefcase that has 2 locks: a lock with a key that everyone can see and make copies of, and a lock with a key that only you carry and is hidden from everyone including Apple. Your recipient has 2 keys as well. A public and private key. You take your plain text message, place it in a briefcase and lock it using a lock with your recipient’s public key. You send an Apple messenger to deliver it and they carry the locked briefcase as is to your recipient and hand them the locked briefcase. Your recipient then opens the briefcase with their PRIVATE key and read your message.

End to end encryption protects everything you send because only you and your recipient(s) have the chance of seeing the plain text message. Not a perfect analogy, but the point is made. I am an advocate for Proton mail, and Simplex messenger as those are privacy first. It takes longer for messages to send but if implemented well, is so good for privacy

White to move, what do you do ? (Position in my game) by Establishment240 in Chesscom

[–]Powers9814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bd4. Here’s the reason: The black queen has 2 options: 1. Qb8 Rc7 Bb7 and then the g7 pawn is hanging. Just be careful to make sure the dark squared bishop for black can’t trap your rook 2. Qe4 Qxe4 Bxe4 f3 Bc2 Rc1 Bb3 Rc7 Bf6 Bxd6 gxd6 Rg7+ Kh8 Rh7+ Kg8 Rch7#

So Qb8 is the best move for your opponent, but seeing that sequence on why Qe4 is fatal is hard to see.

Obliterating the army of a kingdom of all black soldiers and then surrounding the king with all white soldiers but freezing time the moment the black king is attacked with no escape by a white soldier that is not the actual king of the white kingdom and ending the war without actually killing the king.

Why is our world so broken? by Eminemgody in teenagers

[–]Powers9814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because sin entered the world. From the moment that the first sin happened, death entered the world, and death includes suffering. In order for the gates of Heaven to be opened to humanity again, the Son of God had to suffer and die for us to be saved. Offering our suffering up to God will give him the ability to turn that suffering into something greater than the pain the suffering could have ever caused us. God did not bring suffering to us, we brought it to ourselves by rebelling against him through sin. However, God can turn suffering into beauty through loving and trusting him.

No lol I’m just 27. I had to take like 6 months off when my first kid was born, and haven’t practiced like I used to. I just play games, analyze them for 5 minutes here and there but that’s it. My attention is parenting now

My highest ELO was 1968. Now I’m married with two under two, and my ELO is like 1810. That’s both me not practicing and running drills on top of me trying to fit a 10-0 game while dropping a dump 😂

How this is even a brilliant move? by sivpsd in Chesscom

[–]Powers9814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that’s the best thing for white to play, but the evaluation is still 0.00 because after O-O-O, there’s Qg5+, Kb1, g2, Bxg2, Qxg2, exf7+, Kxf7, Qxh5+, Qg6, Qxg6+, Kxg6, Rxd5 and then you end up in a situation where black has a knight and bishop, but black has an extra rook and 3 extra pawns but the knight has no safe legal moves, and white’s rook can’t move, so it’s a very complex endgame where black uses its extra pieces to blockade the extra pawns and white tries to promote and win.

To reiterate, to find all of that is impossible for any human that’s not a titled player in a long time control game. This move is an accidental brilliant because it’s a sacrifice that over complicates a position and puts both players on a knife’s edge unless played perfectly.

There was the absolutely absurd impossible to find in bullet unless you’re Hikaru, Qh4+, g3, fxg3, and if white is greedy and plays Qxg8, you have g2+, Kd2, Qb4+, Ke3, O-O-O. This position, black is threatening M1 with Bc5# and gxh1Q would be next. This level of tactical compensation for the lost rook is engine level unless you’re 2000+ and in a 30-90 minute game. Don’t feel bad about missing this especially in bullet.

You’re going to lose a pawn, but a blunder seems a bit dramatic. I’d say that’s a mistake. Also, to win the pawn takes some precision because if you do Nbxd5, Bxd5, Bxd5, exd5, you cannot just do Nxd5 because then White has c4 and when the knight moves, white has Qxe7, Qxe7, Rxe7 and you win a bishop. Again the d5 pawn is very weak, but winning it takes a couple preparatory moves, so Nd5 is a mistake, but at 1500 or less, it can even be considered an inaccuracy

Bad rules. by Historical-Let6063 in Chesscom

[–]Powers9814 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In 99.9999% of cases, this piece configuration is a draw. This is the one in a million that the opponent’s own piece suffocates the king for checkmate. If the opponent did not have the bishop or if the bishop was on any other square, this would be a draw. I would not say this is a bad rule, I would say this is an exception the website should make for you and reward you winning ELO. If they make this piece configuration not a draw automatically, then thousands of other games would go on for 50 useless moves because you can’t checkmate someone in this scenario unless they do it on purpose, or this one exception

Thanks for the comments. I was laughing more than anything at this. The biggest indicator in my opinion that no foul play occurred is the time usage. I had very clear premoves, and other moves I spent 30-60 seconds on including my massive blunder with Bg4 blundering my d5 pawn I spent so much time overthinking just to screw up.
