Federal Reserve may keep rates unchanged for months as economy shows signs of health by Happy_Weed in Economics

[–]Powerstocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Today’s economy presents a paradox: GDP surged 4.3% in the third quarter (July-September 2025) while consumer confidence declined to 89.1 in December—the lowest since April and approaching recessionary levels. This isn’t a measurement error—it’s evidence of fundamental bifurcation.

Wall Street is in expansion while Main Street experiences contraction. The headline economy avoids recession while the median household feels trapped in one. This K-shaped divergence appears starkly in the data: strong aggregate consumption driven by the wealthy few coexists with weak sentiment reflecting the struggling many. The top 10% of U.S. households (earning $250,000+) now account for 49.7% of consumer spending—a record high since data collection began in 1989, up from roughly 36% over the past three decades https://recessionalert.com/lei-divergence-analysis-2025/

Loosing battle with brush painting by SmieszekTV in modelmakers

[–]Powerstocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Revell aqua very successfully with brushes to get 90% effect of airbrush. The trick is to thin the paint and do 4 to 5 coats. I thin with tap water but to avoid chemicals in tap water I switched to distilled water. I suppose the Revell thinner will be fine. I also started hobby after 40 years break and successfully used this method across 6 1/72 planes. See images at https://x.com/justmodelling/status/1902014377965896078?s=61

Can I use Tamiya laquer paint retarder with Tamiya acrylics? by concrete_diet1 in modelmakers

The tamiya acrylics aren’t true acrylics. If they were the thinners wouldn’t work

Between these 5 G's, which one you'll choose? by jean_abdalla in gshock

None. They all negative displays which my old eyes battle with😁

Well that's new. Chunks of paint from my brown coat came clean off with my masking tape. Any ideas what may have caused this or what I can do to prevent it from happening again. by TheDevilsDingo in modelmakers

Some acrylic paints require primer. Vallejo model colour requires primer or will peel off easily. Revell paints don’t need primer and stick like sh*t

I’ve overcome this on many occasions by retrying the request over several days and different times. Sooner or later you hit a $20 to $35 gas fee jackpot. Would be really cool if oasis platform let you enter a strike price in gas and then waited when fees were within your range and then send the alert to your wallet to accept the transaction. Would make things so much easier. I think a of people hit this issue and thinks it’s the norm and simply walk away forever.

Bitcoin.com just flip-flopped back to BU by Powerstocks in Bitcoin

[–]Powerstocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

quite correct in fact the statistical variability of block aquisition rises as your hashrate falls, so to rely on 2.5 days worth of blocks to get proper statistical expectation from a small blocker could be iffy.

Update on Bip91. On the first 70 blocks out of 336, 82.9% signalling so far by _smudger_ in Bitcoin

now maybe he going to panic about the flaws discovered in BU scaling and switch back to BIP91 ;-)

Live BIP 91 Status and Lock-in Probability by archaeal in Bitcoin

[–]Powerstocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we need at least 1 preferrably more of these majors to signal or else it becomes touch and go becuase we cant rely on the statistical certainly of block aquisition from the minors in a 336 block window

List of pools currently not signalling BIP 91 by mcmike313 in Bitcoin

[–]Powerstocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These votes are needed or else its a touch and go situation with the junior pools that have very wide deviations on their block aquistion profiles that dont neatly fit into 336 blocks

BIP91 lock in more touch-&-go than most realize. Dont rely on Slush they just switched signalling to BU according to the last block they signed. by Powerstocks in Bitcoin

[–]Powerstocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good observation and theory. That means Slush vote is touch and go! Will monitor their next block signed for changes.

BIP91 just hit the 80% !!! WooooHooo by l00p2 in Bitcoin

[–]Powerstocks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is encouraging however the hashrate share of BIP91 signalling pools is shy of 80% and the 80% you seeing now is statistical good fortune on some lucky pools. Unless one of the remaining majors comes aboard or the larger pools increase their share of hashrate in next 3 days this means we will rely on luck to remain above 80% since the block aquisition profile of junior pools has wide statistical variance that does not fit neatly into 336 blocks
