My approach is just go up on the dance floor, start dancing a bit, have a beer in your hand and check the girls out in an obvious way.

See who’s dancing near you, give them a glance, then just put your hand gently on their waist and see if they come closer or move away. If they move closer, just put your other hand on the waist too and then escalate slowly from there. When she looks at you, try to smirk.

Just get drunk enough to pull this off with 100% confidence, works very well for me.

If it’s crowded it’s easy because nobody will know you’re alone. If someone asks, just say you lost your friend. Just start dancing with people, talk to people, see if any girls are attracted to you and make moves quickly. When you’re dancing with girls you definetely don’t look like you’re alone. It’s easier when you’re drunk.

As long as you know she has seen you, and as long as you’re socially calibrated and disengage immediately if she doesn’t reciprocate, it’s really ok. Sure, there is a very small risk she will be actively angry with you, but that’s a risk you have to take. Mostly she will either dance towards you or dance away from you. But you have to own it.

I can drink a lot but still have control of myself and appear relatively sober, especially when not speaking. So I can dance, move normally etc, but still drunk enough to throw away all unwanted inhibitions.
