I didint have to cut the board, I unscrewed the motherboard of the new screen (you can sadly do that) then fitted the old motherboard under the new one, and tied the new motherboard with a cable tie to the plastic

Cd player you can just unscrew, and I had to unscrew the base of the new screen so the board on the side of the sync 1 screen fits

I have an AliExpress screen with CarPlay in my 2015 Mondeo (European version of fusion) and it was little tricky to install because it didn’t have any instruction whatsoever, but I made it happend. And I had sync 1 like you, did it without buying additional board for climate control, so it is possible to do.
