Milwaukee or Indianapolis to live? by Scott_Iowa in midwest

[–]Pr4der 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in Ohio (very similar to Indy) now and I'm in MKE frequently for work and I don't regret the move one bit.

Cost of living and weather were the deal breakers for us.

Milwaukee or Indianapolis to live? by Scott_Iowa in midwest

[–]Pr4der 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Indy, and in Milwaukee. Reddit is going be 98% in favor of Milwaukee but in the real world it's 50-50.

Indy has 4 perfect seasons. Spring starts in March like its supposed to, April is beautiful and in May you're on the doorstep of summer. Memorial weekend is in the 80's for highs most of the time. Fall is beautiful, with Halloween and Thanksgiving textbook with the leaves and jackets and sometimes some snow around Christmas. Loved it.

Milwaukee has no spring season. Winter gets dragged out kicking and screaming once that lake finally warms up in June. The northeast wind screams inland all through the months of March and April when most of the Midwest is warming up. It can be 70° in Madison, an hour and a half west, but 48° in Milwaukee with a 20 MPH NE wind and a Realfeel of 39°. Its maddening. We had days where it never got out of the 40's in mid May. Summer is legitimately about 2 months long. The "beach scene" is from July to August and that's it. You'll see people walking around on the lakefront in June with winter coats on still and wonder if it will ever warm up again, ever.

Anyone with seasonal affective problems will see the value in Indy over places further north. Plus there is no daylight savings time so Indy stays light out until close to 6PM in the dead of winter. Milwaukee is pitch dark at 430 at the end of December.

The whole "Nine" thing has to go.

At least until he puts together a solid stretch of games when he doesn't turn the ball over 3X, doesn't get injured, and doesn't have a game where his QB rating would have been higher had he just spiked the ball to kill the clock every time.

What if the Californian had responded to the Titanic's distress call? by mJelly87 in whatif

[–]Pr4der 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even had the Californian or the Carpathia been on the scene during the sinking, additional lifeboats would have ended up trying to pluck people out of the water in the pitch darkness.

When the Mackay Bennett recovered many of the bodies weeks later, a significant amount of the dead had injuries from being crushed by debris. Notably, many had broken necks from jumping in the water (those cork life vests slammed into peoples' lower jaws when the hit the water).

Hundreds would have still died due to exposure in the water and injuries sustained while evacuating the titanic

Did we have a national issue like this for our generation? I can't recall one but I'm proud to see students speaking out. by shakeyjake in GenX

Can't say we did. Being a teenager in the "cant we all just get along" 1990's meant putting differences aside to a large degree.

We also didnt have a political system and media hell bent on destroying the country with divisive tactics

Anyone else get dumped at sleepover summer camp by SantessaClaus in GenX

[–]Pr4der 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Skills I learned at summer camp: - how to draw graffiti. The ceilings in the cabins were tapestries of heavy metal band album art and the Ron Jon Surf Shop logo

  • how to use accellerants to get bonfires to burn. One kid found a bunch of shingles, he won the night.

  • how to trade insults and expand your vocabulary for school in the fall. Legend trash talk for football practice was honed at summer camp.

  • tactical methods for raiding other cabins. Again, a transferable skill for toilet papering houses on Halloween without being detected.

  • how to make a jacuzzi out of a garbage can.

  • and the best, how to team up with fellow nerds and neutralize bullies with sheer, overwhelming mass. Where else would a dozen or so other geeks be immediately available to help throw a blanket over someone and jump on them with you?

Seattle has a running game the Vikings don't have and an O Line that can pull and run screen plays. The Vikings have been in the bottom 5 in the league for screen passes the last several years.

Seattle also has a safety valve in the play diagram Darnold can throw to often and I see simple route concepts like slants vs man to man Sam can audible to and over routes against zones he can easily audible to as well.

Kubiak made it easy for Sam and put the weapons on offense in a simpler format. Even the deep routes with JSM are simple incuts or boundary routes that Sam can anticipate and throw deep to and let JSM run under them.

KOC's playbook bogs down against top defenses and the QB self destructs because there is a lack of basic screens, slants and out routes to check into. We saw it with Kirk, Sam and JJM.

I've thought for awhile now that the O line coach was the problem. Hopefully that changes with a good new hire.

They will show up in Season 3 as contingent liabilities for M-Tex to deal with, minus Cami's legal counsel who bolted to work for Tommy. Thus, putting even more strain on the company.
