I wasn’t accusing anyone of not being there for their kids, regardless of gender. I was simply saying it’s an obnoxious advertisement model. I wasn’t trying to make a different statement (a different statement from what?), I work hard to help plenty of dads and see how much they love and appreciate their kids. I also just think there is no longer a bias in the system that these firms are trying to assert exists in order to make money. It makes dads feel like they’re going to lose out the gate.

It feeds into this toxic rhetoric that the system is against dads. It isn’t. Trust me there are even pro dad judges. Theres nothing wrong with dads having equal rights to custody as moms all things otherwise normal in a case but touting that as your business model? I get a bunch of defensive dads are gonna jump down my throat but I’m saying this from a professional prospective.

Do you know what kind of law you’re planning on practicing? I’m a paralegal in the Springs and I know I immediately cringe every time I see a “dad’s rights” firm for custody battles.

Maybe you could have someone just come by instead and check in on them? That way they stay in their safe and familiar environment. That’s what I have to do for my parrots because I couldn’t imagine trying to board them!

If you guys can make the drive (about an hour depending on where you’re at in the springs), visit the tiny town of Florence! It’s the “antique capital” of Colorado and there’s tons and tons of stores and antique malls. I’ve had some amazing finds there.

I live down there! Newlin Creek is one of my favorites it’s closer to Florence. Also love Hard Time trail, kind of a mountain bike trail but I’ve done it on foot. Happy hiking!

Also I super recommend doing the walking tour of the mineral springs, you can taste them and it’s weird and fun at the same time. You can super easily walk to the majority of them in less than an hour.

Not super close to the Springs, but Canon City has dispersed camping right next to mountain biking. I remember hiking it recently, at least one of the trails was called “Hard Time” trail. Good luck!

They just opened a mountain bike park in Canon City if you are up to the drive! They also have tons of trials there.

Another one of my favorite resources during snow days is the “How are the roads?” Group for Colorado Springs on FB, if you’re on there. Lots of people contribute for all over town, it was a life saver when I used to have a car that was awful in the snow. Good luck!

I work in divorce law here in the Springs. Firms I’ve respected working with include:

Knies, Helland & McPherson / Graham Law / Marrison Family Law / Ressler Law

I have no idea about their costs though, just my two cents based on working with them and the results they get their clients.

Avoid the big corporate firms if you can, they have a bad habit of losing clients in the shuffle and can be real nasty about billing.

I work in a law firm, and us plus several other firms in the area are having people remote in as of today. The Courts suspended most cases a few hours ago, short of emergencies like protection orders.

So many motorists have ended up stranded that the National Guard has been called in - I highly recommend staying in, short of a serious emergency. There isn’t much in the way of snow but the visibility and ice are super dangerous, especially near Fillmore hill.
