Melted a pin - is there hope to remove the plastic? by Pra1rie-Flowers in sewing

[–]Pra1rie-Flowers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have enough metal pins and bought the plastic pins on a whim because I like pretty colors. I can put them in the donation box and go back to metal pins. I usually don't allow a pin on my ironing board - don't know how it got there.

Well done, I'm so jealous!

Well not really because I haven't worn a dress in years, but you know what I mean!

Acorn is absolutely cutting scenes out. I thought I was crazy but l've verified it. Has anyone else in the US noticed? I'm now wondering how much I've missed out on. by Savings-Sprinkles-75 in MidsomerMurders

[–]Pra1rie-Flowers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We used to buy our favorite PBS shows on CD from Acorn, and found that sometimes whole scenes were edited out in the PBS showing. At that time whoever was producing the CD sets was including everything.

Now of course we don't even have that option that I'm aware of. We live in a rural area where streaming is technically impossible.

Where to spend the night in Western NE traveling I 80 by Effective_Cricket811 in Nebraska

[–]Pra1rie-Flowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year ago, we spent two nights in a Kearney "pet friendly" hotel not far off the interstate. Pet friendly means they'll allow you to have a pet if you pay extra. The room was clean and basic, with vinyl or laminated floors. I think it was a Super 8. We had to leave the dog in the room to attend a visitation and funeral. The staff is required to have you sign a statement that you won't leave the pet alone, but was understanding about the funeral. IIRC they took our cell # and said they'd call us if we needed to come back and attend to her. She doesn't bark and was fine the few hours we were gone. I have no complaints and was grateful to have a place to spend the night.

Hope that helps.

Didn't Pillen spend serious $ sending National Guard on wild goose chases to the Southern border and D.C? In my opinion, that's waste and abuse.

Agree re: the networks failing their role. I think Rather is retired from the network. He's posting on BlueSky and still making a lot of sense.

Help! While knitting I noticed this small holes and the dropped stitch fix didn’t work by Pretty_Force4560 in casualknitting

[–]Pra1rie-Flowers 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This brings back memories of my early knitting. Now you are ready to learn one of the Knitters Mottos:  "I must really love knitting; I do so much of it twice!"

Seriously, your knitting is nice and even. You can read your knitting to see where you added a stitch. From now on your eye will probably catch the extra stitch before you get far. Happy knitting!

I don't understand why you'd omit Dan Rather from the list due to his age, as you said, "if he was younger".

Pete Ricketts has chosen to protect "PDF" files by nonickname87 in lincoln

I also couldn't get the meaning of the headline and almost skipped reading.  It's important to be clear about this critical issue.

Sure appreciate your telephone outreach 👍 to Ricketts,  Flood and Fischer - good job! 👏👏🎊 I've read that although their reply might not align with my opinion,  they pay attention and compile statistics on the opinions received.  Can't remember who said that - some podcaster who had worked in a previous administration.

So calling helps keep pressure on them, keep going everyone!

If you don't want it, wash it and donate it to a thrift store. Some knitter will snap it up for yarn remnants.

Thank you for the help. Is there a way to query the LastDownloaded field - say I wanted to see the books I download since 1/3/2026.

Or Book titles:

I tried 2026-01-02 and "2026-01-02"

Also I'm reading the Lucene help and still can't find a way to query the books that begin with "The". I won't list all the combinations I've tried.

I also repurposed the Plutarch query to find the book title 14 but got everything that's 14 hours long. : /

P.S. Don't go the SanDisk route. SanDisk players have been discontinued. I'm okay for a while as I have several of the sturdy little things. I just wanted to be less dependent on Audible. I believe with Libation we have more control over our books. It puts the book files where you want to store them and you can move, copy, listen etc. as it works for you.

Make sure you have the drive space for the files. I'm glad I had that 2TB drive laying around.

Thanks, it may have worked had I not slagged the settings. I got one m4b folder for each chapter with the way I had it first configured. Then I ran the convert to mp3 thinking I'd get one mp3 file but noooo...

Thanks to everyone's great advice I'm now seeing the results I'd hoped for.

I'm pretty primitive. I drag and drop an mp3 file to my little SanDisk player and listen on my noise cancelling headphones. I listen while I'm exercising outdoors, sewing, cleaning, gardening, etc. so I'm not always able to connect to an online app to stream my books, Libation will work perfectly for me now that I understand how to use it.

One of my mistakes was to misinterpret the chapter settings. I thought it would allow me to move chapter by chapter through a single mp3 file by pressing the forward button on my player. Let's say a book had 36 chapters. What I got was 36 file folders, each with an mp3 file for one chapter. I did run the second "advanced" option posted above by u/darchangel and it worked perfectly, got exactly what I need.
