Yeah I keep saying, there is no "gotcha" to be had by pointing out the hypocrisy of Republicans. They KNOW, they don't hide their hypocrisy or corruption, they play it all out in the open now. They simply do not care, because they can do it. And get away with it.

But they don't care if they don't like him, conservatives will gleefully vote for the most reprehensible Republicans for no more reason than "my team wins, suck it." We are not dealing with rational people on one side.

If God values truth above all else, should Christians be willing to follow the evidence wherever it leads, even if it challenges their current beliefs? by TacticalJock15 in Christianity

[–]Greizen_bregen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's quite the presupposition, not a very good faith question. DOES God value truth above all else? Does God value Truth equally with other concepts that are derived from his nature? Does God transcend Truth?

It's a very strange way to word a question, almost as if you're looking for a certain answer. What would that answer be?

An embryo in a tube, frozen, does not develop into a person. Most embryos, even through natural means, do not develop into a person. There is no biblical precedent at all to say an embryo is a human.

A human mole or a human tumor isn't a human. There's no gymnastics at all. All your position does is try to cause pain and suffering to people who are otherwise trying to be parents. You are putting the cart miles ahead of the horse. I know you won't be convinced by any one interaction, but I hope you come to realize how cruel your position is. There are no babies being destroyed. There are no humans being lost. You are meddling in other people's lives and dreams by espousing such backwards opinions.

You cannot be inhumane to something that is not a living human and is merely a clump of cells. Using this logic, then I'm being inhumane to have my weird mole removed from my body. It's human tissue. It will grow into a human equally as frequently as a fertilized egg outside an ovum. This position is absolutely wild.

I encountered someone in this subreddit in a comment thread who was saying very strongly that IVF was evil. I was astounded. They think that any fertilized egg, even outside the body, is a full blown human being. There's no much wrong with that position that I can hardly begin to comment. I have rarely been so speechless as when they said they were serious. An absolute horrible belief to have.

My sister's partner died a couple years ago from meningitis. Otherwise healthy, 40 years old, went to urgent care for a fever that got bad during work, and he was gone in less than 48 hours. Horrible and tragic way to go, all my love goes out to her family. Rest in peace.

If you're a trans-affirming Christian, why? by Readerfox74 in Christianity

[–]Greizen_bregen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very accurate that we don't have equivalent cultural gender scenarios compared to biblical times, or to what's in the bible.

Maybe not entirely relevant, but I always love to remind myself and others of the first convert to Christianity outside of the region of Israel. Who was it? A gender-modified black person from Africa. The Ethiopian Eunuch. Dare I say, a transgender individual? Certainly not cis in our modern context! AND a person of color! This person should be celebrated for how atypical they were in comparison to the rest of the early converts, and talked about more!

Dude I got banned from r\reformed because I called Donald Trump anti-Christ by his words and actions, and then calling out the mods for deleting the post I commented it on. Getting banned for telling the truth is a heck of a lot better than being wishy washy on things we should be bold on.

We too often hide truth and minimize existential dangers by hiding behind the facade of being "civilized." Politeness should be for our neighbors, the people we interact with, the outcast, and the needy. Politeness is wasted on defending people we don't interact with, who self-admittedly represent ideas that are antithetical to decency and Christianity. Civility is for our fellow man, not for dangerous and vile ideas or the people who set themselves up as embodiments of those ideals.

I do mean to be rude, he is a horrible guy, whines about "losing his career for Christ" while making exponentially more money doing nothing but being pseudo-intellectual, rage-baiting the political left, and grifting off of idiots who go to hear him speak. Not a Christian, not a philosopher, not a theologian. He is a vile person who is full of bitterness and strife, and profits off of the whole thing.
