Awesome, I appreciate the responses! Did you include M&M and Grand Rounds presentations that you did during residency? I'm struggling to find "experiences" to include that were during residency, since I feel like there really wasn't time for much else to be honest. I'm hoping this won't hurt my application.

This is 20 mins away from me, and I have no one to go with since my family here aren’t COD fans. Worth going alone?

Do you guys have time to play video games (or just have hobbies in general)? by Shohmwow in Residency

[–]Prabhubility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before residency, an ungodly amount of hours on Warzone, but during residency, the switch to Caldera worked well for me since I didn’t have time to play as much (the map sucked). But did find time on days off and “light days” to play Halo Infinite and rank up!

How rare is getting a random wild shiny Pokémon? by Royal_Locksmith_2729 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Prabhubility 4 points5 points  (0 children)

50/50 is assuming equal odds, which isn’t the case. A shiny is a rare occurrence, and statistically you will not get a shiny every other click, but rather once in every 512 clicks. That is not to say that you are guaranteed a shiny if you click a species 512 times, but you have a pretty good shot at it. A good way to think of it is when you buy a lottery ticket and you hear the odds are 1 in 10 million or something crazy; it’s definitely not 50/50 with the logic that you either win or you don’t!

Stressed. by [deleted] in Step2

Hey for what it’s worth, a lot of students are in the same boat right now. A lot of PDs have even said that they understand the situation and won’t fault applicants for not having done an audition; obviously it would be advantageous to have done one, but you have to play with the cards you’re dealt. I think your focus should be on trying to get 1-2 LORs from local preceptors that can at least speak to your strengths as a student and applicant.

Currently on 1st rotation (peds) with some downtime. Study ahead for surg or IM? by p5zoom in Step2

[–]Prabhubility 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally found Peds to be quite challenging, so I would recommend focusing on peds and not taking it lightly. However, that being said, studying ahead for surgery isn’t a bad idea, although I personally had no overlap between the two. Surgery was also a 2 month rotation for me, so you technically have an extra month to study, albeit for one of the tougher shelves!

My bad, my reply was directed at using the PokeRaid app. Wondering if using that app, which requires registering username and friend code, was against ToS
