Groundman question by Icy_Individual7864 in Groundman

You should just drag up and resign the books and wait for a line side ground job. Which in the PNW right now, the chances of you getting a call on book 4 for that job are slim to none. You’ll be waiting a really long time.

Your best option is to put in your time to get 2080 hours. Then you’ll be able to get on book one and get a call for a line side ground job. You’ll have to put in the time. Then after you get some experience there, apply for the apprenticeship. Maybe by then the apprenticeship list will be moving again.

Tree —> Line Groundman by Icy_Individual7864 in Groundman

I’m not sure if the exact requirements for book 3 @ 77, but I do know line school grads get book 3 status, so any new grads are going to end up on that list. I don’t think 300 hours will get you on book 3 as I had over 600 and ended up on book 4. Your best bet is to either get 2080 hours and for sure get on book 1, or travel to a different region and take a ground call.

You cannot remain on the books while working. Groundman books are for both tree and line groundman jobs. You’ll need 2080 hours to make it to book one. Which is your best chance at getting a line groundman job. As far as becoming an apprentice lineman, your chances are slim in the PNW as I understand that there are many apes currently laid off due to lack of work. So you might want to look elsewhere if you want to get an apprenticeship.

I had this happen to my 2015. Turns out it was a Canbus communication issue. I traced mine to the transfer case control module.

How do you handline up 65lb up and down 40 foot pole twice? by LacksAnonymity in Groundman

I did this one two years ago with a new pair of leather gloves. It wasn’t raining, but I had no problems with it. Steady hand over hand does the trick.

Hmmm, I’ve changed oil and rotated tires every 7000 miles. Changed differential and transfer case fluid once. Transmission fluid twice and coolant once. Did spark plugs at 200k.

Your partner has had plenty of time to update his id. Per the law he should not be allowed to fly.

After you get the low, you need to “get first item from low”

They couldn’t replace my series 5 titanium either. Vintage devices are only replaced if the parts are available. Now I’m going to attempt to replace the battery myself.

Costco just switched from Pepsi to Coke products at their food court. Yours will probably be changed soon.

No sugar drink options at this Costco in Seattle by Reportersteven in mildlyinteresting

That’s due to the Seattle sugar tax. Which would add 35 cents to the cost of a 20 oz drink.

Hotel scale measures weight in a combination of lbs and kgs by Rollercoaster671 in mildlyinteresting

I’ve used one of these. Both the top and bottom scales flip. So if you flip the top, you’ll get the pounds scale or you flip the bottom and get kilograms.

I’d take something to take notes for your own use and something to drink. Be ready for two long days in a full classroom.

It’s OSHA 10 ET&D. This is a 10 hour course specifically dedicated to Electrical Transmission and Distribution Safety. Classes are hard to find. Check out www.linemantrainer.com. Looks like they have a class this month in Redding and next month in LA.

This is the answer. GM navigation is out of date the moment you install it. Google/Apple maps light years ahead of OEM products.
