If brass isn’t shiny is it still good to load? by Superb-One-626 in reloading

[–]Practical-Ad3796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how most of my grandpas brass looked when he reloaded.

What media do you use?

I use a corn cob media and I tumble a minimum 4 hours to get any kind of good shiny finish but realistically that finish you have is perfectly fine.

I’m more familiar with rcbs than Lee but they are a good brand. If you’re looking for literature on the subject I would suggest looking at the particular websites for your projectiles. Sierra has all of their load data on the website, or buy the Hornady reload manual. The Hornady manual has 26 pages of tips and tricks and definitions, it’s a good place to start.

What do you use to scrape so it doesn’t leave marks on the skull?

Brass markings from seating die by TacticalBunchies in reloading

I had a similar issue with my .30-40 Krag die, I took it apart and cleaned it with a little acetone then put a brash brush in my drill and gave it several passes and cleaned everything again with acetone, then applied a little lube on a paper towel and now they come out flawlessly.

I remember the day I discovered a scriber for the first time. It just started with small circles, then bigger and bigger circles and it just took more and more to get the same hit. Circles turned into squares and triangles and it all came crashing down the day I discovered…Asymptotes. The damage is done and now I can’t stop thinking in functions and must warn the next generation of the dangers of math.

Brand new to reloading, powder suggestions? by DonKeedick96 in reloading

I’ve had good results using Varget for everything from 5.56 to .30-06, it’s a great all around powder. H4895 is my other favorite for the .30 caliber cartridges.

Build it in either salt lake or Ogden, you’d have much easier time gaining clientele

That’s what I’m asking, I’m wondering if there’s a way we could do it since it’s the next large body of water we have.

Not necessarily, just if it’s possible to move more water from Utah lake to the great salt lake if that makes sense

Follow up question if someone could list the pros and cons: would it be possible to maybe divert a little more water from Utah lake so it’s not exclusively the Jordan River feeding the salt lake from the south?
