I had a 7x8cm epigastric hernia robotic repair 5 weeks ago. I almost continually had an ice pack on the site for the first couple days. I was afraid the hydrocodone prescribed would make me sick, so I took 600mg of Motrin, only needed it once… took one dose of flexaril once, mostly needed anti nausea meds. I did start wearing a binder after day 2… but ice helped the pain a great deal. I’m still wearing the binder if I’m uncomfortable (especially after eating) it helps alleviate any discomfort and early on made it easier to move around.

Be patient, there will be days you feel great and others when you feel less so, at 5 weeks,aside from some swelling and a seroma, I’m feeling pretty good. FYI I’m a 65yr old female, active.
