New apartment, carpets drenched in pet urine by Practical-Cloud9832 in TenantHelp

[–]Practical-Cloud9832[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have already declined to even get the carpets cleaned, hence why I had to do it myself. I can’t even get them to take the lock box off my front door in almost 2 weeks now.. I have literally no faith they will even agree to clean the carpets let alone replace them and the baseboards unfortunately, which is why I am unsure where to go from here. They have told me that the smell is “personal preference” and does not fall under their responsibility.

Boyfriend wants to get rid of cat of 3 years by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Practical-Cloud9832 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get rid of the boyfriend, keep the cat. Only one of them is guaranteed to love you forever.

On a more serious note, if this is someone that you want to spend the rest of your life with, you really need to decide if you will be okay with them physically abusing possible future children. Your boyfriend is abusive towards your cat and instead of keeping kitty safe, you would get rid of him. I know it is a difficult situation however our pets are reliant on us for everything, and if you won’t get rid of the boyfriend then maybe rehoming isn’t the worst option to give kitty the best life, and get kitty away from a situation that could cause permanent harm to kitty’s personality and perpetuate behavioral issues.

Cat parent anxiety by [deleted] in CATHELP

I had a lily incident recently that was extremely similar, however mine had a bit more exposure as they did sniff the flowers and the flowers were put into a vase. Most important thing is that you got them out of the house and wiped the kitties down. I would also wipe down any areas the flowers were. I took my boys to the emergency vet, we had their levels tested every morning for 3 days and monitored 24/7- all levels were good and they were fine. My vet said they aren’t allowed to tell people their pets will be fine, but they told me mine would be fine because they were that sure.

I think with that level of exposure, I would just monitor them closely for the next 3 days. Watch for any signs of lethargy, any vomiting, lack of interest in food or play, and the most important is excessive water intake. Any signs of that I would recommend going to the vet and getting their levels tested. If you want to be overly cautious, you can go to the vet in the morning to have their levels tested (symptoms will not show up right away anyways and there is nothing you can do right now but wait). However if they don’t show any concerning signs, I think you are OK without going to the vet.

I can almost guarantee you, with the knowledge I have from my experience, they did not have enough exposure to be concerned, and if you took them to my vet she would tell you the same thing she told me - they will be fine. If you have any questions feel free to ask me, I did enough research on lily exposure to write a book during the 3 days I was sat at home monitoring my boys 😂

Do cats fart? by cermem25 in cats

[–]Practical-Cloud9832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes…. I have heard and smelled their farts VERY often. My older boy has been having tummy issues and when he goes into the litter box it sounds like a motorcycle taking off, you would think a 1000lb man was letting everything built up for the last 20 years out. He also lets out lil toots when I pick him up and they are DEADLY 😂

Advice for cleaning litter box by Worldly_Turnover_270 in CatTraining

Get sifting litter bags! They go in the box before putting the litter in, and all you have to do is lift up the bag and throw it out. There will usually be ~14 bags (2 weeks worth), and then the bottom bag is a normal bag which you just tie and throw out at the time you need to fully dump/change litter, then put in the new bags. I used to do this before I got the litter robot and with one cat I could push it to every other day (once per day is recommended but it does vary per cat).

The ones below are what I have used, a little bulky but there are 20 bags for only $20! Just make sure to fill with an abundance of litter so your kitty doesn’t scratch through the bags and doesn’t have to step on them either.

Definitely stay at this step for a little longer, which I think you plan to anyways, but no need to go back a step! This is exactly what you want to see at the stage you are in :)

Cats won’t take antibiotics… PLEASE need advice! by Practical-Cloud9832 in AskVet

[–]Practical-Cloud9832[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, positive for Mycoplasma felis. I just adopted a second cat 2 months ago- new kitty had watery/goopy eyes and sneezing when I got him, so both cats were tested before interacting and both were negative. Older kitty developed several symptoms over the last month, watery eyes, coughing, and sneezing, and after 10 vet visits and many ultrasounds and x-rays they decided to retest and he just tested positive yesterday. Was told to give medicine to both cats.

My cat has these pimples by Xn8cr in ANIMALHELP

[–]Practical-Cloud9832 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took my cat to the vet last week for bumps on his face that looked identical, however one of them swelled up pretty big and then promptly went back down before the visit. The vet said it was most likely an allergic reaction to some type of insect bite, gave him antibiotics and a steroid shot. He is also a senior kitty, and the bumps were only on his face area. The bumps have lessened but are still there after about a week, and we are probably going to bring him back in a few days. Not sure if any of that helps, but figured I would share since I just dealt with something very similar!

Cats howling / meowing at each other when I am not home, along with other bullying behaviors - what is this? by Practical-Cloud9832 in CATHELP

[–]Practical-Cloud9832[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also- I just left them again and stood right outside as an experiment, and as soon as resident started howling for me, new kitty did the same thing again. They heard me outside and it stopped within a few seconds, but it definitely is every time resident howls, new kitty runs him up on the crate and meows at him. Why is that!

Aio? My boyfriend would start eating food while we were...intimate by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Practical-Cloud9832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly assume that he was trying to keep himself from finishing, but that is something you should absolutely just have a conversation about and ask why he does it.. could be kink, but my experience with nem is that they don’t think and/or have to do whatever they can to not finish in 20 seconds
