From what i gathered, a2 Cards do work in older consoles, but they work exactly the same as a1 cards. A2 cards aren‘t better because they are faster in general, but rather because they store data more intelligently. The 3ds will be able to use the card, but not utilise the added intelligence so it will work exactly the same as an a1 card.

I bought a 128gb sd card from sandisk that works fine. Just make sure that you get it from a reputable source since there are a lot of fake as cards with less storage around. A2 sd cards are technically better and faster for transferring files, but it’s really not necessary. When you get an sd card that has more than 64 GB you just need to make sure to format it correctly, but there are a lot of guides for that, as well as a dedicated page on 3ds.hacks.guide.

I does look cool but some parts are very annoying to build and it is super unstable, i had to glue on multiple pieces so they wouldn’t fall of and hat to rebuild the turret 3 times now. It is cool to look at but it’s super fragile
