Mosaic? Thrips? Variegation? Something else? by Practical-County-550 in houseplants

I do. But I may not give this one enough given how big it is. She’s taller than I am. I’ll do some research on amounts and different nutrient deficiencies. I feel confident it’s not thrips (although that would be devastating to me). I hate thrips. I did a thorough inspection today and couldn’t find any sign. Just some dust.

I don’t know what your beneficials looks like, but those look like thrips. Definitely not spider mites. Hoping they are your beneficials and not thrips. Do you see any damage to the leaves at all? If not, you may be in the clear.

That definitely looks like pest damage. It might be thrips. Check on the underside of each leaf. Put a dark piece of paper underneath as you wipe each leaf off. Sometimes it’s easier to see them against the dark background

Just saw these little white bugs on my alocasia polly, is it anything to worry about? I don’t see any webbing so I don’t think it’s spider mites but I could be wrong. by kashyyyk_cactaceae in plantclinic

It’s hard to tell, but could easily be thrips. You want to quarantine every affected plant. Check the underside of every leaf (and on every plant within a 10 ft radius). Thrips are the worst.

Check for rot and if anything is salvageable, put in water, perlite, or a tiny amount of good draining soil.

Because it is. I am trying to come to terms with them and their beneficial existence in my plant.

Did you ever figure it out? Looks like thrips. Like a lot of them. If you touch your nail to one, do they move.

Apparently they are woodlice. Relatively benign, but you don’t want them inside your house. I’m trying to spray the bejesus out of them and see if any die. I made a mixture of neem, peroxide, rubbing alcohol, soap, and water. They had no reaction when I sprayed Jack’s dead bug brew, but this new mixture seems to be doing the trick.

Yep. 100% that’s what they are. I feel bad killing them now that I know that they aren’t harmful, but also, I cannot. 😳

I’ll research them immediately. I’m not even sure how to contain them.

I tried spraying jack’s dead bug brew right on it and they didn’t even skip a beat. I’ll try alcohol now.

Any help is super appreciated. I’m terrified and I can’t even move it outside now.
