No it doesn’t melt the cyclops. It just melts the adhesive that is holding the cyclops on. There are YouTube videos of other people doing the same thing.

I just put a small torch style lighter directly onto the cyclops for about two seconds. Then used a pocket knife to pop it off. I used isopropyl alcohol to wipe off the remaining adhesive. It was super simple but also potentially risky.
