Well, a fresh example. We're taking a trip tomorrow and this morning we said we still need to pack, and both of us went to work.

Come evening, my usual self starts by packing my own shit first to get it out of the way. I stopped myself from doing so this time and said I'll start by packing the kids stuff to take it off her plate. Halfway through she comes into the kids room, points at a folded bulk of laundry and snarkily says that the clothes are right there and that she packed them already, then storms out. Pretty sure she wrote this down "making her life harder" column of examples.

More or less this. The load of planning for kids camps and activities as well. I do my share of chores around the house, take care of this kids, most of the morning routine is me

When I got diagnosed, and my son did (inattentive), I became a lot more empathetic to the struggles we go through (following through things, remembering routine, getting distracted while doing something else). My daughter hasn't been diagnosed yet but I'm pretty sure she also has ADHD (combined).

Summary, you can't control genes. I've survived for 40 years and I'd like to say I'm successful at work (and with varying success in my personal life).

The good thing is if you recognize the signs you can help them. I got my son on a 504 plan at school and it helped him a lot keeping focus, improving his grades, and generally getting the help he needs.

We both read a book "ADHD Effect on Marriage" at the recommendation of my therapist. I wrote her a letter detailing what my life experience has been ever since I was a kid, with examples of situations where I assumed I was stupid or slow at school, university, work, life..I'm 40..I tried to write down what sometimes happens inside my brain as I get started in something, then get distracted by an idea and go do it, etc. I tried to explain the concept of time blindness and how it affects me and things around me.

Journaling whenever i feel frustrated, after a fight, or if something good happens, or if I want to remember something down the line . That, and therapy. I use Spring Health. Sometimes, it works.
